An Interview With MyNerdyHome, AKA Steph

I recently had the privilege to sit and chat with MyNerdyHome, aka Steph, and pester her.

Blabbering Collector:  How did you get into Geeks + Gamers?

Steph: I found G+G through EFAP. And from EFAP, I found WorldClassBullshitters, and from there, I found G+G, and from G+G, I found basically everyone else! As for when I actually joined, I dunno; I put in a lot of work. I know Jeremy wanted me to be a part of the team; I just wasn’t ready. So when I was finally ready with everything on my plate, I joined. People actually thought I was already part of the team when I wasn’t, which was kinda weird but also really nice that they thought I was part of the team. I always thought that G+G was a really high caliber of people who are highly respected, and to be thought of in that way was really nice. When I finally joined the team, I hit the ground running. I can’t stop!

BC: I remember that! It was on Microsoft Teams, and Jeremy was like, “You guys already know Steph; she is part of the team now!” And Jay and everyone were like, “Steph is here!” I remember thinking, “What? Isn’t she already here?”

S: Yeah! *laughing*

BC: What exactly do you do within G+G?

S: I do a lot of stuff, actually! I am on Tuesday Night’s Main Event (TNME), and I take notes because, when it is over, I edit all of the re-uploads of the clips from TNME. That’s what I do; I edit all of those videos and re-upload them. I do the G+G Clips channel that you’re a part of, that you upload all of your stuff there too. We sorta just post little clips that people say because I think that is funny. Honestly, Jhalestorm is the best at it. But I contribute where I can; I do the G+G Tiktok, and some of those videos go on the Clips channel too. God, what else? I just clip stuff! I edit a lot! And then I’m on the D+D channel as well, with you!

BC: Yeah!

S: I try to do as much as I can. It’s mostly editing; that’s where I feel most comfortable. I love streaming; I love it. But I like to be busy for more than just a few hours that I’m streaming, so I do a lot of editing.

BC: What are your internet goals? This can include YouTube, Twitch, and your social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram.

S: Oooooh. Honestly, I keep my goals really small, manageable, and realistic. So, for Twitch, right now, I would like to reach 1,500 followers. Once I have that goal, my new goal will be to reach 2,000 followers. For my own personal channel, I make sure to stream on the days I’m supposed to stream. I used to try to have unrealistic goals like putting out a video every single day. That’s just insane, as I have so much to do with the G+G channel. For me, I like to not only stream every day but to take my time and make sure that everything I am doing is up to standard. I don’t want to give something half-assed. It needs to be done right. I learned how to have small and manageable goals that I can really achieve.

BC: That’s fair! Which do you prefer, YouTube or Twitch?

S: I like Twitch! It’s super easy to use and to interact with each other. It’s easy for the viewers to send bits, stickers, everything! You can really personalize it, and you can raid, which is what I really love. I wish I could do more than just game, which is why I just started to build LEGO on Twitch, because I’m still interacting with the chat, and they can watch me build. For streaming and getting my thoughts out there, YouTube. It depends on what I am using the platform for, but I do like Twitch a tad better.

BC: How big of a Star Wars fan are you?

S: Oh man! Yeah… I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was, like, eight. It’s been a big deal, not just for me but for my family. I come from a family of nerds. Like, we legit put on a fan-made production of Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones with costumes, and everyone got dressed up, and my uncle was there directing us! It’s a big part of my life. My grandma raised us, so whenever we would be at her house during the summer, we would watch the original trilogy over and over and over again! We would all sit down and watch them! It was just as good as, say, Jurassic Park; everyone wanted to be a paleontologist. We would all sit and discuss the Star Wars films! It was probably one of the few times that my grandma could make us all sit down together and watch the TV whilst she cleaned or something. I love Star Wars. I didn’t get into the EU; honestly, I didn’t even know they existed growing up.

BC: Did you ever read the EU?

B: I have a lot of the novels, and I still have yet to read them. I think I started off with Darth Plagueis; I think I got halfway through, and I have yet to finish it.

BC: Oh, you’re better than me. I haven’t read any! I know you have a lot of DC items, but what else do you collect? Do you have a main focus?

S:

BC: If Ryan asked you to make him a sandwich, what would you make him?

S:

BC: What is your favorite topic to discuss?

S: Honestly, whatever is newsworthy. I mostly talk about it with my mom.

BC: What is your boggart?

S: Oh my God! Oh… * 5 years later* Umm… it’s a zombie. In real life. I know that they are fake and whatever, but for the longest time, I had this irrational fear of zombies, and I started to watch the show The Walking Dead to get over that fear. If I’m ever in a haunted house, or someone is dressed up as a zombie, it just creeps me out.

BC: What is your favorite IP?

S: Batman. Yeah. It’s DC, and I love it so much, but I hate what it’s becoming now.

BC: If you could go on an adventure with any character, who would it be?

S: It would be Jason Todd! He is Red Hood. I just think he would be so fun, getting into mischief with people.

BC: Anything you would like to say to your viewers?

S:

S: Uhhhhh * another 5 years later* Oh my God, I have so many, though!

BC: One.

S: Slytherin.

BC: What is your Patronus?

S: It is a barn owl.

BC: Disney or Universal?

S: Oh, Universal, hands down!

BC: Would you rather clean the house or do laundry?

S: I’d rather clean the house. I hate laundry!

BC: The Shire or Narnia?

S: The Shire.

BC: Favorite video game?

S: Animal Crossing.

BC: Do you like Nickelback?

S: *Laughs* No.

BC: ABBA or Frank Sinatra?

S: Frank Sinatra.

BC: Interesting! I did not see that coming. Favorite Nintendo character?

S: Yoshi!

BC: Go-to-snack?

S: 

BC: Favorite composer?

S: I don’t know. I don’t think I have one, really… I don’t have a favorite! That type of talent is just amazing.

BC: How is Jake the Snake?

S: Oh my God. *Laughs* I really wish that would just die! I hold so much animosity towards Mike for making that up. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” It’s funny now, but I do wish that would die. I don’t know. I’m not Jake!

BC: Favorite Australian?

S: Are you kidding? I have to pick one! Kylie Minogue. Mhhhm, that’s right, I’m picking Kylie. I’m not picking any of my friends. And I think Lethal Lightning would respect that.

BC: He definitely would. Would you rather eat mud or play in a pit with snakes?

S: Oh… what kind of snakes are they? I think I would rather lick my finger and have a little bit of mud…

BC: That doesn’t count; you need to eat a whole handful!

S: A handful of mud! I could do that.

BC: Bless you.

S: I love snakes, but I couldn’t play in a pit with them

BC: But you don’t like Jake the Snake.

S: No! That’s fake. That’s made up.

A Question From Ryan:

Ryan: If you could dress up as any Star Wars character, who would it be, and why is it Jar Jar Binks?

S: Shut up, Ryan! *Giggles* Look. Everyone hates Jar Jar. I like him. I loved him from the moment he graced the screen. I was young, and I loved him, and I laughed at him. And I love Darth Jar Jar. I love that they turned him into a Sith Lord. That is awesome. Ryan thinks it’s the weirdest thing, but whatever.

 

Twitter Questions

Twitter: If you had to give up one – turtles or Animal Crossing – which would it be?

Steph: That is hard! It would be Animal Crossing. I love turtles way too much. I can’t go a day without looking at a photo or video of a turtle. I’d find a different game to replace Animal Crossing.

T: What video are you most proud of?

S: The one that I edited for G+G about Ron DeSantis and Disney World. That video got a lot of views, and I’m quite proud of that!

T: What is your favorite cheese, and is it ever missing from Ryan’s order?

S: I really like pepper jack cheese because I like spicy things. I don’t think Ryan ever orders it, unless he orders something spicy.

T: Biggles would like to know why you love him more than Lethal.

S: That’s not true; I love everyone equally.

T: Who is your favorite Decepticon?

S: Stunning And Brave Megatron.

T: Favorite Lord of the Rings character?

S: I really like Merry and Pippin. They both go through an arc; they start off as silly fools and they come out a lot braver and can stand taller. They made a name for themselves.

T: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

S: Intelligence… like, super intelligence.

T: Deadpool, Deathstroke, or German Deadpool?

S: German Deadpool.
