Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: The Complete Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition, Batman, the Joker, Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill

This set looks incredible! If you grew up in the 90s, you’re all but guaranteed to have seen at least a few episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, so there’s a whole bunch of nostalgia buttons being pushed by Batman: The Complete Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition. Aside from being a wonderful show in and of itself, Batman: The Animated Series is perhaps the most important piece of the Batman mythos outside of the comic books. It introduced fans to Harley Quinn, who started off as little more than a Joker henchwoman and became one of the most popular characters in Batman’s world; it gave new depth to previously lower-tier villains, like Mr. Freeze (in the astounding “Heart of Ice;” this was the first episode I saw, and what a way to jump into the series!) and the Mad Hatter; and it originated what many consider to be the definitive performances (and certainly the definitive voices) of Batman and the Joker in Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, respectively. The inclusion of Mask of the Phantasm is a blessing as well; this movie details a chapter of Bruce Wayne’s life we’d never seen, the ghosts of which come back to haunt him as Batman. (It also has one of the Joker’s creepiest moments.) You’ll want to act fast if you’re interested, as Batman: The Complete Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition has already sold over 2000 copies in Amazon preorders, but with the October release date, it’s a safe bet some Bat-fans will be spending Christmas with the Joker this year.
