Brendan Fraser Interested in Returning For Mummy 4

In an interview with Variety about the making of his new film The Whale, which seems to be leading to a much-appreciated and long-overdue comeback, Brendan Fraser discussed his possible interest in making another Mummy movie. He also concludes that the 2017 reboot starring Tom Cruise lacked a sense of fun, and that’s why it flopped. Check out an excerpt here:

“I don’t know how it would work,” he admits. “But I’d be open to it if someone came up with the right conceit.”

“It is hard to make that movie,” he says. “The ingredient that we had going for our Mummy, which I didn’t see in that film, was fun. That was what was lacking in that incarnation. It was too much of a straight-ahead horror movie. ‘The Mummy’ should be a thrill ride, but not terrifying and scary.”

A lot of people would gladly turn up for another Mummy installment with Fraser, myself included. I’ve only seen the 2017 version one time (somewhat recently), and I have to agree with his assessment. It’s boring, and the characters aren’t easy to get invested in.
