Disney’s New Animated Movie Makes a Wish

Today, Disney released the first teaser for their upcoming animated movie Wish. Releasing this November, Wish takes place in the fictional kingdom of Rosas and follows a young heroine named Asha (Ariana DeBose). Check out the teaser here:

I love this. I’ve been skeptical of this movie thus far, based on what scant information we have gotten. The designs are very Frozen-esque, and I really didn’t like the image of King Magnifico (Chris Pine) that was released yesterday. But I love what we’re hearing of the songs, Ariana DeBose is very talented, and the mixed-medium look of the animation is very cool. More than anything, I’m excited and relieved to learn that Wish has a true villain, not another plot-twist gotcha or the concept of generational trauma again. I can’t wait to see this one.
