Give Us Star Wars Battlefront III

It’s April 28^th, 2020, and I’m refreshing the Star Wars Battlefront II (SWBFII) Reddit page and the EA’s Star Wars Instagram page every five seconds, hoping they will tell us that they’ve added Ahsoka Tano and Asajj Ventress to Star Wars Battlefront II. Ahsoka is one of my favorite heroes, and the fact that we hardly got any of the female characters in Battlefront II was just mind-boggling. We got BB droids before Ahsoka, Padme, Aurra, Bo-Katan, or even Rose Tico! I understand that the game lacked sequel characters and needed to focus on them, but my disappointment was immeasurable, and my day was ruined.

Sadly, it was announced that this would be the final update. There were no hero additions. We did get some new skins and the gorgeous Scarif map; however, not having additional hero characters was quite disheartening.

Devoted hardcore fans were devastated that community updates had ended. They were so upset that they even created a petition to bring live support back to the game (or even a third game), and at the time of writing this article, the petition has over 118,500 signatures! Back in 2021, Epic Games Store allowed players to download SWBFII for free. Over nineteen million people downloaded the game, thus proving that people still love and enjoy playing the game!

Now that EA has announced three new Star Wars video games that WILL NOT be Battlefront III, fans were, yet again, upset and annoyed with EA. After a two-year gap of no Star Wars video games, and after EA had said they would be “doubling down” on video games, fans were itching for a new game, especially a remastered, updated Battlefront! Fans are literally waving wads of cash in front of EA, and they are currently refusing to provide fans with a game the majority want to play! A simple search on EA’s Star Wars Instagram page will show you a ton of comments asking when the third Battlefront will release.

DICE, the creators of the video SWBFII video game, had actually pitched a third game to EA. However, EA rejected it. No one was shocked. But this wasn’t the first time a Battlefront III had been canceled. Before EA held the exclusive rights to Star Wars, LucasArts was actually working on one in 2006. By 2008, it was nearly complete, but the 2008 stock market crash hit LucasArts hard, and they pulled the plug on the game by 2009! See below for some leaked footage.

Ironically, both of EA’s Star Wars Battlefront games ended live support with an update of Scarif.

Now that the drama of Battlefront II is out of the way, I went around the internet to discover what fans wanted for a third game.

First off, fans want all current maps (from SWBFII) to be remastered, with the addition of a Mustafar map, Courscant map, Naboo Plains map, Geonosian Arena map, Umbara map, and Exegol map. See below for some mods made by fans!

Fans also want all the characters that were already in SWBFII, but with remastered skins (including their faces). They also want more emote options, such as Leia saying, “You stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder,” and dialogue between characters, such as Anakin and Luke, Leia and Anakin, Luke and Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin. There are plenty of deleted voice lines from Battlefront II on YouTube that they could reuse.

Fans want more skins for the already existing characters, such as Padawan Anakin with a blue saber, Padawan Anakin with a green saber, Hooded Darth Maul, Darth Vader with his damaged mask, Endor Luke, Book of Boba Fett Boba, Bespin Leia, Hooded Luke, Slave Leia, Hooded Rey with a yellow saber, and a 332^nd company skin for the clones.

Rey, for example, desperately needs to be remastered, as she looks like a character from Chicken Run.

Fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano is a must-have for a new video game. She could have a variety of skins, such as her Clone Wars seasons 3 and 7 outfits, Ahsoka season 3 outfit with goggles, slave Ahsoka, Rebels outfit, and even now a Mandalorian outfit. A voice line could be “I’m no Jedi.”

Anakin Skywalker’s wife, Padmé Amidala, was already rumored (along with Ahsoka and Ventress) to join Battlefront II, with characters such as Grievous having a dialogue with Padme, but that fell through when EA decided to end support on the game. The number of skins she could have is endless. She could Padme Naberrie skin, Naboo Palace Break-in skin, Geonosian Factory (caped), Geonosian Arena (injured), Malevolence Escape skin from The Clone Wars, and much more! A voice line could be “I call it aggressive negotiations.”

Mace Windu is another fan favorite that was not in SWBFII. He could have various skins, such as wearing a cloak over his Jedi robes or simply his Jedi robes. Some of his most famous lines from Star Wars are “Take a seat,” “Citizen,” and “He’s too powerful to be kept alive!” These are requirements should the character be in the game.

More characters that could be included are Asajj Ventress, Aurra Sing, Inquisitors, Bo-Katan Kryze, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Plo Koon, Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, Captain Rex, the Bad Batch, Savage Oppress, Rose Tico (the sequel trilogy is here to stay; might as well make the most of it), Cara Dune (doubtful for this particular character), Din Djarin, Greef Karga, Moff Gideon, Fennec Shand, Hondo Ohnaka, Barriss Offee, Bail Organa, Fives, Echo, Commander Cody, and the rest of the clones, such as Captain Rex.

Peli Motto, the Armorer, Koska Reeves, and Axe Woves from The Mandalorian, and Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and the rest of the Rebels characters would be fun to play as well. All the bounty hunters, main clone characters, and Mandalorians could have at least two skins, one with their helmets on and one helmetless.

Characters from Rogue One, such as Jyn Erso and Director Krennic, were actually already in the 2015 Star Wars Battlefront game. All Rogue One characters were missed in the second video game. Greedo and Dengar were also in the 2015 Battlefront game, but not in the 2017 Battlefront II.

Then, there are all the characters that have not yet made it to live-action or a TV show, like Darth Revan and Mara Jade! This also includes new eras to go along with the characters, such as the Old Republic.

Fans have also said they would like to have game modes from the 2004 Battlefront and the 2005 Battlefront II, such as playing as Gungans on Naboo. Fans would also love to be able to play on land as either a trooper or hero and be able to hop into a ship, dogfight in the air, and then come back down to the planet’s surface to land and fight again. Lastly, players would like more customizable skins and classes, especially for non-clone factions.

Perhaps now that EA’s exclusivity for creating Star Wars games has ended, some other company will take up the challenge to develop a Battlefront III, possibly with a new name.
