Mandalorian Season 3 Continues Downward Spiral

The Hollywood Reporter recently posted an article detailing examples of The Mandalorian season 3 ‘s dip in popularity. In short, it relates to lower Nielsen ratings for the season’s opening and increased online criticism from fans and critics alike. I recommend reading the original article in full; it’s good and considers information like The Book of Boba Fetts poor reception.

Many YouTubers I follow (though not all) are reveling in the show’s loss of status and following. That’s not me at all; I love Star Wars, no matter how many bad movies or underwhelming shows it produces. I loved seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian and had high hopes for season 3. For what it’s worth, I’ve enjoyed season 3 more than some. I’ve liked several of the episodes and only think the latest one is truly awful. The story has been meandering and struggles to find focus, which is probably one of the main frustrations of the general audience. This season doesn’t even know who its central character is, let alone what it’s about. And where’s Moff Gideon, who is supposed to be in this season? The only other major threat, Pirate King Gourian Shard, was killed off quickly in his second appearance. I come at this not from a place of hatred or schadenfreude. As I said, I really like this show and mostly love Star Wars. While I find the show’s recent failings (and especially last week’s episode) baffling, I’m far more confused by Lucasfilm’s decisions on the film side.

But what do you think about the article, The Mandalorian season 3, or anything else? Sound off in the comments below!
