I personally don’t care. You like whatever you like. My preferred system is Xbox but I own a PlayStation and a Switch as well. With everything being cross platform these days, the console war should be about dead.
I understand the desire to have cross-platform play and I’ve felt that way myself in the past. However, the console battles keep the companies competing for CUSTOMERS which gives us the best possible products at the best prices. I never want product wars to end, I want them to keep fighting so that I can pick and choose from the best. They want my money? They better earn it!
There is an argument in there about how cross-platform play would help drive customers, so I would be open to it. But more than that, I want more companies to create great products to compete.
Thanks for posing the question and I’m curious to see other thoughts (including counter-arguments). Cheers!
I can see that side of the argument. We as the consumer can benefit from it. I wish the Xbox did have better exclusives though.
Because it human nature. My shit is better than your shit, no really, NO FUCKING REALLY!!! and that is throughout history. Unfortunately it has evolved into something more mean spirited at beats or people have become weak ass bitches at worst.
Back in ‘THE DAY’ I was a Spectrum 48k guy and FUCK that Comode 64 piece of trash but over the years? I have always ragged with C64 fans (and vice versa) but it really is in a banter type way, I’d miss that if it disappeared. However, I’m also an xbox guy so FUCK SONY PIGS but the generations have changed and people get butthurt way too easily.
Sony? Xbox? it’s always better to have competition as a consumer but fuck me people get sore. I’m a gamer first, I’d sell every xbox in my house and buy a Gaystation if there was a game on it a needed to play, it’s that simple.
Oh and don’t even mention the PC master bate race LOL that’s a whole new can of worms
*at best* it should read after mean spirited
I wish we had MORE console mfr options, to be honest. I don’t think competition between Xbox and PS has been sufficient, regarding available hardware specs and performance (I have no quibble with their pricing).
I skipped the last 2 gens of Xbox after owning the orig. Xbox, Xbox 360, and then Xbox One Elite (I skipped the One S and the One X) because they lacked the hardware specs and functionality I wanted (like backing up individual game saves to external USB).
Now for the first time almost two decades, I’m going solo with PlayStation; but I’m worried about the PS5 — the SSD capacity for example. I like having all my games pre-installed in my local console library, just like all my BDs and DVDs are readily accessible via Plex on my NAS. I’m currently maxed out at 2TB on my PS4 Pro. 825GB is not going to work for me, and we haven’t received enough info about expansion options.
It is very likely I’ll be sticking with my 2TB PS4 Pro for a few more years. It appears at least some PS5 games are going to be playable on the PS4.
