RUMOR: Live Action Space Aladdin Confirmed?

Mena Massoud has once again hinted at the possibility of playing live-action Ezra Bridger in Star Wars: Ahsoka. Massoud recently (March 2022) shared the following fan-made photo on his Instagram story:

Mena Massoud Ezra

As previously mentioned, this isn’t the first time Massoud has hinted about bringing the animated character to live-action. He previously posted a photo of himself with the caption, “Hey, just so you know, when I escape I won’t hurt any of you.” This is a quote from Ezra in Rebels.

Massoud said the following whilst speaking to ScreenRant:

“Yeah. Just manifesting, just manifesting, trying different things. Yeah, there’s not much more I can say about that, but, you know, I had heard murmurings that this role was coming up and this is becoming a real thing. So I just kinda wanted to throw my name in the ring and — yeah, just part of manifesting what you want. I think we live in an age now that’s so different than ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, Hollywood, where there was no social media. It was really just your representatives, putting things out there for you. But now, we have the ability to put things out there for ourselves because of social media and because we can put things out there. So yeah, I just wanted to put it out there, I guess… It would be a dream come true. Obviously, I’ve already had one of my dreams come true with Aladdin, but I also think I could just really do it justice. I’ve worked on that kind of big, massive set before on Aladdin. I think I have that under my belt now and thankfully the film did really well, so I think I’ve proven that I can be successful in that environment.  I think it would just be a great opportunity to take everything that I learned on a set like Aladdin and implement it into the Star Wars or DC or Marvel universe. We’re talking about manifesting, so yeah, it would mean a lot, it would mean a lot. I think I would also do a solid job and work really hard. I like what they’re doing with that world and how they’re expanding the universe.”

Furthermore, live-action Ahsoka Tano actress Rosario Dawson even shared this on her social media back in 2021:

Mena Massoud Ezra

Dawson previously shared that Hayden Christensen would reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the Ahsoka show.

Besides Mena Massoud, other actors and actresses have been rumored to appear in AhsokaMary ElizabethIvanna SakhnoNatasha Liu Bordizzo, and Ray Stevenson have all been rumored to star in the upcoming Disney+ exclusive show.

Nothing has been confirmed by Star Wars.com, so these castings should all be taken as rumors.

Personal Opinion

I personally never liked Ezra Bridger. He was whiny and impatient. I felt that the “world between worlds” storyline in Disney’s Star WarsRebels was bogus. Ahsoka cheated death, and she is one of my favorite characters! I also dislike live-action Ahsoka Tano. Her slouching, short montrals, losing the one saber… everything to me was off.

That being said, I think Mena Massoud would make a perfect live-action Ezra! That fan-made photo of him is pretty accurate to what I think Ezra would look like. Ezra Bridger is basically space Aladdin. We first meet him being chased in a market by stormtroopers; we meet Aladdin being chased by guards in a market. Notice the similarity? It seems fitting that Massoud should play both roles!

I’m extremely cautious about the plot and character development of this show. Disney is changing established characters created from the Lucas era to improve their own new characters. As such, I’m not looking forward to Ahsoka.

It is going to be another Disney trash fire that dangles keys in your face that says look at the shiny. Probably would do a good job in the role but the script is probably going to be ass with Dave baloney cameos
