Savannah Steyn to Play Young Ahsoka

A Nerdgazm exclusive reveals that actress Savannah Steyn (House of the Dragon) will portray a younger version of Ahsoka in the popular Star Wars character’s upcoming series. This follows rumors of three actresses (including Rosario Dawson) representing different phases of Ahsoka’s life. Additionally, a Bespin Bulletin exclusive revealed Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s role on the show: Hera Syndulla, Captain of the Ghost in Rebels

I enjoyed Steyn’s performance as the young Laena Valeryon in House of the Dragon. That’s all I know her from, and she wasn’t a lead character. But I have hopes for her performance as Ahsoka. This presents an opportunity to bridge the gap between the animated and live-action portrayals of Ahsoka. They could have Ashley Eckstein do voiceover for the younger version of the character, further connecting her to an animated rendition Dawson’s take feels cut off from. I don’t know how realistic that is, but it would be wise. Eckstein has said she will not cameo in this season, but I also hope we see her at some point. This is her character, and she’s inextricable from Ahsoka’s legacy. As for Winstead as Hera, I don’t know what to think. I don’t know her well as an actress, and I’m always disappointed when they can’t keep the voice actors (Vanessa Marshall, in this case), but that’s not to say she won’t do a good job.
