Yeah, Tom King’s Batman was pretty much the end of DC for me but now you’ve got me intrigued in this James Tynion IV run. And as far as Bendis, the joke at my local comic shop was that Marvel sent him to DC to destroy it from within, so I’m not surprised at how you described his work. Too bad. I used to like Bendis. His Ultimate Spider-Man and New Avengers stuff was really good but I think when he came out with Mighty Avengers he spread himself out too much and just never recovered.

I felt there was a chance they could make some decent movies since Lucas at the time was still onboard as “creative” or “spiritual” consultant. Plus he claimed he had scripts written for the sequels but would not direct them. Moreover Disney put out some pretty good movies that I enjoyed despite whatever BO they had. I think at the time POTC, John Carter, Tron Legacy and they took over Marvel movies which did not really disappoint be back then. Seems whatever changed inside Disney happened pretty quick, within the 2012/13 during Obama’s second term.

But Lucas’ PT while decent fantasy films, were badly directed and written. So his ST could’ve been some of the same stuff as his PT. TFU I & II and TCW 3rd Season got me back into Star Wars but that was like in 2008 and again in 2010/2011.  But the TCW movie that came out around the same time as TFU(at the time Lucas billed it as a direct prequel to OT and sequel to the PT), the TCW movie was crappy and bombed at the BO. I liked Ventress and Dooku in it but nothing else.

Star Wars: Originally, it was just “Star Wars.”  Saw it in 1978 as a kid. Loved it. Got the action figures.

Star Wars: The Holiday Special.  Saw part of it on television when it aired. I remember it vividly because I was deathly ill. Merchandise around

that time I got was the Wookiee Storybook and Cookbook. It might have been around this time I listened to the Radio Drama. Incredible. Star Wars

    was becoming a phenomena.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Wow. It was as if the whole world changed. This was the beginning of something. Before this, there is no way

that ‘fans’ were as happy as after watching The Empire Strikes Back. Possibly not since. Blade Runner, Indiana Jones were next to be unleashed…

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Originally, “Revenge of the Jedi.”  By this time we were buying everything that said Star Wars on it. Presto-magix.

Shrinky-Dinks. Soap. Puffy Stickers. Anything. But the quality was starting to go down. The comics kind of looked like shit. We were not expecting

Ewoks. The Ewoks did become a bit of a letdown, but the ending with the Emperor meant so much that we let it go. The Marvel Star Wars comics series ends.

Star Wars: The Television Years.  Those of us who watched these probably wondered in astonishment, as we were watching something quite terrible.

It had potential, promises, and even with the characters and ideas they had, could have been good, but was just plain awful. An awful so mixed with

‘boring’ and ‘un-inspiring’ and uselessness that the Star Wars Droids and Ewoks figures all ended up at the ‘dollar stores’ of our time, like Big-Lots and

TG&Y. Bargain bins overflowed with Ewoks and Droids merchandise… failure. The live-action TV movies were such let-downs that most people just

pretended they never saw them–they didn’t exist.

Star Wars: The Dark Horse Years.  Unfortunately during this time, I was pre-occupied with other things. Things like ROBOTECH. Japanese

animation. Music. I purchased some the of audiobooks of some novels, and dramatizations on cassette tape, like Dark Empire which I thought was

okay, but not quite the level of entertainment or inspiration as the originals. At this time I assumed that Star Wars was dead. However, GEORGE LUCAS

did an interview on the radio where he explained that there were a total of 9 movies planned, and the next three would be Episodes 1, 2, and 3.

We assumed that Star Wars would never return… until…

Star Wars: The Prequel Era.  I ran out and purchased the soundtrack before the movie was released several days later. I got home played the music, and

dreamed of a return to the inspiration of the originals… the clone wars would be explained, the story of Anakin Skywalker and Obiwan would be told,

and more insight into the Jedi … what did we get?

Star Wars: The Dream. Before watching Episode I, I had a dream that I saw it. The dream was me sitting in a movie theater. The opening scene was

of a young 20-something Anakin in the desert of Tatooine, and up drives a car with a giant Green Goblin Head on the front of it. Driving the car was

“Bob Fett” and he tried to sell drugs to Anakin. The car speeds off and some sort of punk-rock song begins with the title Phantom Menace appearing

dripping in blood… George Lucas punked us all! Then I woke up. Unfortunately this absurd ‘meta’ movie I saw in a dream was far ahead of its time…

at the time I thought it was cool. After the LAST JEDI, I see that it would have been a horrible choice. However…

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.  Terrible. But, sorry, I had to watch it several times to realize just how bad it was. I came to this conclusion before

Attack of the Clones came out, but I believed that it would at least be better.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. When I walked out of the theater I think I was more astonished than I was for Phantom Menace. It was just silly. It

was shit. Pieces were there for it to be good, but it was still shit. I was actually thinking, I don’t think I’m going to bother with EPISODE III. What

a terrible thing that Star Wars was now shit.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The lead up to Revenge of the Sith was 9-11. I reluctantly went, more or less hoping at least I would know and be able

to describe how bad it was to people, and I did not enjoy myself.

Star Wars: The Red Letter Media Years.  I was totally on board the RLM Plinkett films when they began to appear. I had worked on a George Lucas

parody short film myself. People were still miffed about how terrible it was. In the end the Prequels’ value comes down to memes and parodies, and

the love of them seems to come down to the same kind of love for the Toxic Avenger movie series.

    Then one day…

George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney. Immediately, I said to myself. Oh my God, they’ll trash it. It will be shit beyond belief. It will be hacked to death

and reconstructed to sell some sort of weird corporate ideology.

Star Wars: The Disney Years.  I  still haven’t watched Rogue One.  I bought Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Dollar General. I watched it. Two

weeks before the release of THE LAST JEDI.  I knew Luke showed up at the end, and didn’t really want to wait years to find out what he does. You

know what I did two weeks later? I skipped it. I read some reviews and I knew this was the death of Star Wars. Before Jeremy did. The funny thing is,

when nothing I did on the internet criticizing George Lucas and the  ruin of franchises got any traction, and then THE FANDOM MENACE was born.

I watch a few minutes of THE LAST JEDI eventually, but it was nauseating. Never watched SOLO. Haven’t seen THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. It was over

    with for me years ago.

I don’t think people should discard it all. In fact I just bought the Phantom Menace on DVD for $2 at a thrift store. For the memes.

Star Wars isn’t really dead, at least the originals. It really isn’t. And this is coming from a Red Letter Media fan who produced Star Wars memes

for years before the asshole even sold it to Disney. I still say, keep the faith, baby. Keep the faith.

    Disney Disney?

    or Disney Marvel?

    or Disney Lucasfilm?

Disney Disney: cartoon films like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, all good.

    Disney Marvel: nothing stands out

    Disney Lucasfilm: nothing stands out.

    1. Sex Education (cause of the title and marvel netflix shows are dead)

    2. Maeve(she’s interesting even though she’s a mary sue in terms how smart she is)

    3. The comedic aspect of talking about sex and relationship in the most awkward conversation at time giving advice by a virgin.

    4. Marvel Netflix Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Punisher are my fav from those series.

    5. Amazon has the boys but I can’t really say what to improved upon other than keeping writing good/coherent shows and netflix got cobra kai s3 soon.

Captain Sjwmarvel – You do the math in the movie and in every issue since 2015 when Carl Manvers went full woke. Carol does some really shitty things as a “superhero,” and her reasons to go “evil” in last year’s run were a joke (an “alt-right” alien made up lies about her, triggering her to be evil. You can’t make this crap up).

Tumblrsquirrel – Ugly, obnoxious, and flat out annoying. Would rather whine and act like a femcel than be a superhero.

Ms Marvel – Always right even when she defends a rapist/terrorist who killed someone in front of her.

Riri Williams (Ironheart) – For a superhero, she acts more like a supervillain who will sacrifice a town’s female population to stop a serial killer. Very selfish.

America Chavez – Take a lesbian, and make her a hate-filled, racist bigot and a misandrist (she REALLY hates white people). That’s America Chavez in a nutshell. Oh yea, and to add salt to the wound, she’s also an illegal.

Everyone on the tv version of Batwaman – Nuff said. Kate Kane is literally the worst human being on the planet.

In reply to: First PS5 Game

Hello scamman93, thank you for your reply. I agree with you that I will wait on the PS5 and I want it also in black. I appreciate it that you answer my question with the selection of Marvel’s Spiderman and/or Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales. If you did not like Horizon Zero then you do not like it. It is not my place to judge you. I appreciate your opinions and insights though. I hope to hear from you in more forums in the near future.

Not into mobile gaming in general. Tried dozens of games and end up dropping most of them, most fairly quickly. SWGOH and Marvel Strikeforce are the only ones that I really play now. They’re at least designed for mobile platforms and actually fun for what they are. I hit DC Legends now and then, but it’s more about collecting than playing. PC/Consoles are the way to go.

    1. I once Marveled at an Image in a DC comic, it was CW’s Batgirl (joke!). Love each in different ways.

    2. Batman, Wolverine, Supergirl

    3. Dark Phoenix Saga

    5. Chris Claremont

Here is a detailed list of studios EA has put in the grave: https://heavy.com/games/2017/10/studios-ea-has-killed-visceral-games/

The one on that list that cut me the most was the death of Mythic. I was a Warhammer guy back in the day, so the release of Warhammer: Age of Reckoning MMO was a big deal for me. I went all in on that game. Created a whole new guild that managed to survive the early server purges of the game’s rocky release. Had a seat at the table of the biggest Order Alliance on our server. Tried my damnedest to beat back the Chaos zerg with my allies. But it was all for nothing, because overlord EA did not let Mythic make a better game. The game needed another year in the oven, but EA rushed it out. So the balancing problems and overall broken game mechanics made it impossible to win once the Chaos zerg on our server realized all they had to do was wait until everyone on Order went to bed for the night. The morning I woke up and found Altdorf sacked because we were all sleeping was it for me.

And even though it is still kicking, Bioware might as well be dead, too. EA has done a marvelous job of neutering what was once a massively creative studio.

    So yeah. Fuck EA.

    Cliché comic book guy/writer here.

1.- Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher? I was mostly a Marvel/Image guy for almost 30 years, now I only care about quality. I mostly read Top Cow, Udon, European albums, and indie stuff nowadays.

    2. Favorite characters in some of these universes? Gambit is my favorite fictional character.

    3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in? Wolverine & Gambit: Victims.

    4. What was your first comic book? It was an ’80s promotional comic book from a local sausage company featuring Chabelo, a local Mexican celebrity.

    5. Favorite comic book writer(s)? Alan Moore, Tim Seeley, Chris Claremont, Joss Whedon, Matt Wagner, Terry Moore, Jeff Parker…

    6. Favorite comic book artist(s)? Joe Madureira, Alvin Lee, Jim Lee, Stjepan Šejić, Alex Ross…

    In reply to: Writing?

When I lost interest in anything new, I started to write my own series. I started discussing it with my fiance, who, like me is a huge nerd, and was discussing how it was cool how comic book series like with Marvel, and Star Trek Series’ all coexist in this shared universe, and I thought it would be cool to create a set of series that coexist in a shared universe, and find a way to bind them together in various series’.

When I was younger I wrote this story about a genetically enhanced femme fatale, another story about a tangible virtual reality, a story about robots who lived on their own planet, and had short circuited to forget their origins, and thus didn’t believe that humans created them, and started this concept about an alien who saves earth when they fall in love with earth culture and convince their superiors to convert earth into an interstellar tourist attraction, which, ends up with it’s own mess of problems later on. The biggest challenge in weaving these stories together is setting a time frame for each story or story series.

The project I’m working on right now, is a series based on the origins of the tangible virtual reality, also known as the ‘dream field’ and its inventor. If you’re familiar with Professor Geek, he did an awesome video, once, on the Trinity archetype, which inspired me to go ahead and make the primary focus remain on three characters, with the main protagonist being the “son” or incarnate, his mentor being the “father” and a female character being the “spirit”. It’s a series with an extra wide scope, and is far more ambitious than anything I’ve ever attempted at writing, because the task isn’t just writing a set of novels, but setting up a whole world, that reminds the reader that it’s foreign and alien, while being relatable to humans. The way I do this is by building various cultures with music, art, religions, and other ideologies in ways that are similar to human ideologies, but only develop in different ways. It’s written in episodic format, which has also been a huge challenge, because of that balance of writing a complete story in each chapter, but for the next chapter to progress the plot ahead a bit more than the previous chapter.

My main protagonist in this story is the embodiment of the Jungian idea of the Magician. His major flaw that he struggles with is an ever growing god complex, because of the inventive abilities he possesses, having very few realities that he can make possible. This gives him a sort of “the universe is my playground” kind of feel, and has that tendency of wanting to amass or protect the level of power that he possesses so that he can mess with people however he pleases. The mentor character is man who is ancient, and is obsessed with restoring his homeland to its pre revolution status, where he was a very influential leader. The female character is an abdicated princess, who is the daughter of a hyper dimensional being from a nonlinear time frame (an idea inspired by DS9) and thus can remember the future, as well as possesses Mantis like telepathic abilities. In this galaxy there are many hybrid hyper dimensionals including the main villain, who can also manipulate time and space at low levels, although it makes him tired much faster. I really wanted to push how trippy I could make these stories, and when I revise, I’ll probably try to push it further. I really want to give readers the experience of exploring a vast new world where anything seems to be possible and the line between imagination and reality becomes nonexistent, and yet is still not some utopia wherein everyone gets what they want and only generates new struggles for people to deal with. I intend to create just enough confusing to intrigue, but not enough to alienate.

The plot, the characters, the worlds, etc. in this series is, by far, the most difficult thing I ever wrote, and I always liked writing.

I’m also writing the robot story, and I’m finding I recycle characters a lot, only make them slightly different to adapt to different circumstances. I keep writing the hyper-confident and creative primary male character, the more rigid and highly methodical mentor character and the very attractive and moral center female character. It might be aspects of my own psyche, and maybe the primary male characters are aspects of my animus projections. Who knows?

And, yes, I do love archetypes and to research archetypical storytelling as much as I can. I think it’s a tragedy how a lot of post modern works throw archetypical storytelling by the wayside, and how new films and stories treat gender is atrocious. Ironically, I think feminists devalue women, by turning them into something interchangeable with men.

So Angry Joe is woke 100% He has complained about boobs in games on more than one occasion. Maybe he’s just gay? He complains about females being sexualized in games yet he loves Henry Cavill and raves about his looks lol He sounds like a college teacher I used to have that preaches old school feminism. He also gets too political on Twitter. Just review video games bro… Yet he hasn’t done a good job with that in awhile. Instead he does bad movie reviews. And his woke friend Alex I can’t stand. These guys love these woke Marvel films. Sure they talked shit about the last Star Wars movie. But thats kind of hard not to do. Go on his YouTube and you will see that he follows TYT.
