Friday, April 18th, was the second day of Star Wars Celebration in Japan, which means we now have more news from the convention. You know the drill, so I’ll get right into the latest updates from Celebration.
The cast of Andor, including Diego Luna, Adria Arjona (Bix Caleen), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), and more, are excited for season 2. Arjona says she “loves” the fans and always had them in mind when filming. You can see the Andor panels below.
Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Rosario Dawson, and a surprise guest have Ahsoka tidbits.
A new season of Lego Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy is coming:
“When we were writing LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, we knew we were only scratching the surface of the new mixed up Star Wars galaxy and the surprises it might contain. Now, we’re kicking the story into hyperdrive!” said showrunners Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. “In Pieces of the Past, we continue to celebrate the entire history of Star Wars and LEGO by incorporating characters, ships, locations, and LEGO designs no one ever thought they’d see on screen. As lifelong Star Wars and LEGO fans, the opportunity to play with every toy in the box is a dream come true, and we’re excited for audiences around the world to lay in a course for the unknown.”
Star Wars: Zero Company is a single-player turn-based tactics game coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
A featurette was shared celebrating the legacy of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Narrative Director Ashley Ruhl discussed why the game is still relevant and popular 13 years later.
Custom-built by a group of droid builders from multiple countries, COOK-1 debuted at the convention.
Well, this is a lot less than they announced the previous day. I’m finding a lot of clips interviewing Manny Jacinto, Ahmed Best, and people like that. There’s a trailer for a 13-year-old video game. And don’t get me wrong; we all love the old stuff (except The Acolyte, which can stay dead). But there’s so little new and exciting being presented here! I’m more nervous about Ahsoka than excited for it. Season 1 started off slow and rough, got very good in the middle, then crashed and burned in the last 2-3 episodes. And now, of course, Ray Stevenson is gone and recast. He was the best part of the show, even better than the Anakin stuff (which was, in turn, better than anything else besides Baylan). So, yet again, the only brand-new thing that looks good is Andor season 2. Truly, nobody is doing it like the Andor cast and crew. Adria Arjona is so beautiful, positive, and effusive, but everything with Genevieve O’Reilly, Tony Gilroy, and Kyle Soler (Syril Karn, my favorite) is great as well. I hate to reiterate what I said about Young Jedi Adventures, but the Lego thing is probably just for kids. I won’t hate on it, and I hope they enjoy it. I wish I had more to say about the games, but I’m not a big video game fan; I don’t play many, and as a result, I don’t know much. COOK-1 is very cool, and I’m sad to say he is more impressive than anything Lucasfilm has put out during this con, again, excluding the Andor stuff. I’ll take what I can from that until the new season hits.
But what do you think about these TV and game announcements? Not much else took place on Star Wars Celebration Day 2, did it? Sound off in the comments!
