The Bad Batch Season 2 May Premiere Later Than Expected

Fans of The Bad Batch may have cause for disappointment, as Redditor BZPJMJ64 has discovered a delay of season 2. Star Wars Insider is the official Star Wars magazine; as such, the publication keeps fans up to date with news, updates on coming projects, and canon stories set in the galaxy far, far away. Previously, a spring 2022 release had been attached to the show’s sophomore outing. However, Star Wars Insider changed the tag to “coming soon” in issue 209, most likely indicating a later release than the fanbase previously anticipated.

Bad Batch Delayed

This isn’t all that surprising, given Obi-Wan Kenobi’s upcoming May release. It still stinks, though. Season 1 of The Bad Batch had some rough spots, but I enjoyed it overall, and the premiere and finale were spectacular. I was afraid of a long wait between seasons when Obi-Wan’s release date was announced. The same thing essentially happened with The Mandalorian, as it was pushed back to accommodate filming conditions, and we got The Book of Boba Fett in the interim. I’m not a fan of wait times longer than a year between seasons, especially to make room for new shows. I understand why they don’t want multiple series running at once, but I would rather get the latest installment of something I already like than a consolation prize in the meantime. With The Bad Batch, I would hazard a guess that this has something to do with the cost-and-time-consuming practice of animation. It’s no wonder Obi-Wan would be ready to go sooner, even with its own production hurdles behind it. Overall, this isn’t the biggest deal in the world, but it is a setback. Star Wars animation is one of my favorite parts of the franchise, and I already have my doubts about Obi-Wan
