The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos Trailer 2 Reintroduces Rayla

Today, Netflix released yet another trailer for The Dragon Prince Book 4, Mystery of Aaravos. This clip brings Rayla back into the fold, dips into the violence of the last two years, and gives Viren thirty days to achieve his goals. Check out the new trailer here:

Wow! This is my favorite clip from Mystery of Aaravos so far. The music and dialogue selections here are particularly strong. Still, the story beats teased really have me on the edge of my seat. Rayla returns! I wish we could have seen her choice to leave and what led to it. I feel that way about many things in light of this time skip; I find setup and payoff more satisfying than the shock of a time jump. But I am eager to see her reunion with Callum anyway, and Ezran looks to have grown into a mature and wise King despite his young age. I think as he ages, he’s outgrowing the feminine voice of Sasha Rojen. When Ezran was little, it wasn’t a big deal, but I find this voice distracting coming from a growing young man. I’m so glad this series is coming back, though! Claudia’s resurrection of her father is temporary, and he needs Aaravos’ help to make it permanent. I’m almost surprised Viren would be dumb enough to seek his help again, but villains are nothing if not stubborn. I always liked the detail of Claudia’s hair turning increasingly white as she uses more dark magic. Even if she sacrifices animals and plants, magic still takes something from her.
