The last arc in Bleach had a moment when it told the story of how Ichigo’s parents met, and it was one of my favorite parts of the story. But there is another, maybe similar story that I wish would be told, too.
From the first moment Byakuya Kuchiki shows up, it’s clear that he’s someone who values honor and his family’s reputation, perhaps more than anything else. Yet there was a time when he loved a girl, Rukia’s sister, who came from the wrong side of the track, who so far as I know from the story had no big family name, and was in such a dire situation that she decided to abandon her little sister. He loved her enough to even marry her.
How did that happen? How did his family respond to him marrying such a girl? How did she adjust to such a new life? Who was cruel to her, and who was kind?
Guess I think there’s a possibly good story there, and I’d like to see the author tell it some day.
