So I agree with your initial premise, but all of that is entirely inconsequential because it is not how it is used now.

how about just using the term in its real meaning. I personally dislike when people sling buzzwords with a false meaning. I can’t correct any major news channels or whatever but I can do my best to correct people I can reach like here.

And I disagree with your assertion that “I can handle it like a man” leads to a gun barrel in your mouth.  You can handle your business internal and external without falling prey to either one.  In short, there is not some link between actual toughness and suicide.  This is not say asking for help or seeking help is weakness or not being tough.  But you make it seem yourself in your explanation that male traits lead to bad things.  This is not true.  Bad decisions, mental illness etc lead to bad things and that is not exclusive to males or females.

that’s not what I meant. You are correct that being tough doesn’t lead to suicide, but it is an undisputable fact that a huge reason why men commit the majority of suicides is due to the toxic masculine pressure society puts on men to be tough, which is in many ways positive but it has negative undertones which can seriously hurt them, hence the name toxic masculinity.

What I and many other want is the society to accept vulnerability and normalize men seeking help instead of toughing it out in many cases and get rid of calling them pussies for seeking help. That would be nice progress.
