That was one of the things the Fandom had against this scene.

C3PO barely knew those mouseketeers, so why would he say those words.

I remember George Lucas talking about how the droids were a common thread among all the original movies. Then he added them into the prequels, making note that Threepio had the first line of spoken dialogue in A New Hope and made sure that Threepio had the last line of dialogue in Revenge of the Sith. Does anyone think that Abrams or Kennedy or anyone at Lucasfilm ever cared about such a detail? Threepio and R2 barely had any scenes in the new movies, nor did they really move the plot along in any significant manner (Threepio’s plot line in TRoS was just ridiculous). I liked BB-8 but they tried to force that character to replace R2 and that’s a “no-no”.

Yay, R2D2 was in sleep more.

And one of the theories about Star Wars was that the whole story took place from the view point of… THE DROIDS R2D2 and C3PO, as they are the only ones to be in all the movies.

So this not having them other than background characters is another dis at George and the fans.

Hey, I am missing Ashoka, Padme, Obi Wan and Anakin on it. Is there someone that can edit them in, then it would be perfect.

After seeing Anthonies reaction in the interview I am not surprised he is getting fired at from Disney… Well let´s hope Lucas will return and

correct the mess and remove it from canon.

Didn’t C-3PO get his memory wiped at the end of Revenge of the Sith? I don’t know if he would remember them outside of his experiences with “Old Ben” and Vader.

At the end of Rise of Skywalker, R2-D2 had a back up of Threepio’s memory and reinstalled it, basically resetting his mind to the beginning of the movie.
