    Post-Crescent, Stone Soup, Children's Theater

I was a child actor of the stage between 1975 to 1980. At one time, I had been cast in an off-Broadway production of Oliver, but unwillingly withdrawn because of parental scheduling conflicts. I was Joey, in Stone Soup (photo above, circa 1977/1978). The closest I ever got to Hollywood was when scouts came to one of our plays and a fellow actress was offered the role that Heather O’Rourke eventually landed for Poltergeist.

The linked story is a topical insight into how actress Jennette McCurdy’s experiences led her to escape a promising acting career in exchange for her mental health and freedom. She wasn’t the first and most certainly won’t be the last. I have heard of much more darker, and sinister, activities involving actors and actresses, including that of Heather O’Rourke. This account is less menacing, but still exemplifies a culture that portends harbingers of shattered and broken lives.
