This is great news and even better knowing SCOTUS is going to hear more cases. When people say doing away with permits is going to cause the country to be “the old west” the numbers simply do not back that up. Currently there are over 22 MIILION people who have permits and estimates are now double that for those who Constitutionally Carry aka Permit-less.  That is near 66 million Americans if that is true. Yet no old west shootouts going on.

Here is the most up to date map and info for your state.

Funny you bring this up now.  I just came back from the grocery store and I saw someone in plain clothes open carrying.  I thought that was cool although technically I guess he could have been a cop or something.

I think everyone should be able to carry.

I for one an VERY glad that Melony Mac is carrying.

As with everything there are pros and cons. But the way things are going, methinks most right thinking people would be willing to put up with the potential risks to safeguard themselves and their loved ones.

@Maverick, the only Con I can think of is there is certain business’s you cannot carry in when posted….. Wait that is not a Con that is a positive as if you do not support the constitution I sure aint supporting your wallet. So it makes it easy and saves me money :)

I have carried for over 30 years hell close to 35 and never once felt the need to pull it in defense. Now I have pulled and used it to put down a few hogs and deer so I was glad I had it then. Honestly it is no different than having a first aid kit, tire iron, jack, blanket etc I carry in my truck year round. I hope I never need them, but if I do I am sure glad I did have them.  Really can not think of any negative aspects to having it.

Now I do need to say some places do not allow carry for good reasons and those are different than the business’s I mentioned above. No reason to carry in a Bar (drinking and guns never mix) Amusement parks (No reason to cause a panic from some jackleg freaking out or a rent-a-cop pulling and firing for now reason) Court houses for a obvious reason.

              @Mustangride1

Which weapon make/model do you conceal carry?  I am super curious. After carrying for that long you must know what works well which is why I am asking.

The weapon you are most comfortable with and train with.  That is what I tell people who have asked me that question for many years. Go to a range that has loaner weapons and find the one that you are comfortable with, then buy that weapon and practice to the point it is all muscle memory. If the time comes you have to use it, then it should be all muscle memory to pull and fire so fast there is no time for second guessing.

What works is not putting yourself in a position where you might need to use them, in the first place though. What I carry may not work for you or 50 other people. There is much more to it than just the make and model, things like how do you want to carry (Appendix, behind the back, ISWB, OSWB, ankle  behind the hip, hip) the list goes on. And women have even more options to where they carry. That is why my answer is what it is.

Also when you conceal carry, you need to think of holster security ( getting to it fast and also not letting someone get to it) or even know you have it. Why classes are important and I am not talking about the conceal carry classes for the minimum permit. But ongoing advanced classes and lots of range time.

                  Great advice, thanks!

I know what you are saying is 100% true.  There is a video floating around and its several years old where a war vet is working in a convenience store.  He is open carrying I believe in the store.  Someone comes in and tries to put a gun in his face. The vet was so comfortable and used to his weapon even though the other guy started to pull first the clerk had his weapon sitting on the guys forehead before he could even draw it all the way.  It sounds like nothing but I find it VERY telling of how gun vs gun situations work.

                  Oh no!

How will the criminals continue to make a living, if people are allowed to carry weapons to defend themselves with.

Sure, criminals will continue to kill each other (and the random innocent bystander).

How many stories have we heard where a person with a LEGAL firearm used it to protect people by taking down the violent terrorist/criminal/mass murderer before the police arrived?  NOT NEARLY ENOUGH, IMO!

And history has proven that a trained and armed population prevents dictators from being able to take over a nation.  Of leaders who go off the rails and try to enslave the population.

Well Legatus I can answer those questions. 2020 was the last update to many of them.

There were 1.3 million violent crimes in 2020 in the United States.

The US burglary rate was 314.2 cases per 100,000 people in 2020.

There were 673 registered self-defense incidents in the United States in 2020.

There were 1,453 defensive gun use deaths in 2020.

There were only four cases in 2019 when people had to fire ten or more shots in self-defense.

Women use guns to defend against sexual assault 200,000 times a year.

90% of law enforcement officers believe that legally armed citizens could reduce the number of mass shootings.

Gun self-defense statistics show that armed citizens kill 1,527 criminals a year, while police officers kill 606, and citizens have a significantly lower error rate than police officers. American residents have a 2% error rate, while US police officers have an 11% error rate.

There are many more stats and can easily be found through the FBI criminal database, CDC death statistics and others. Bottom line is and always has been, despite what Hollywood has portrayed the wild west as “which it wasnt” and what Politicians and the Media lie about, the facts show that as many people as are armed we do not have wild west or vigilante justice all over and in fact armed citizens prevent crime.

Look at Switzerland about firearms, gun ownership, gun training.

and mass shootings (or lack thereof).
