    • What is your favorite type of anime?
    • Do you enjoy the shonen genre more or the seinen genre more?
    • Which is your favorite genre of anime?
    • How and why did this anime become your favorite anime?
    • Do you prefer one anime over another anime?

In this forum, lists the top 5 or 10 animes (or mangas if the anime has not been adapted yet) that you enjoyed and or you are currently enjoying. If you want to elaborate the discussion further by explaining how and why the anime is your favorite (or favorites) then go right ahead. For example, I like Cowboy Bebop because Spike is an amazing character with a tragic past and an interesting perspective on overcoming life’s obstacles. Looking forward to furthering each discussion.

For starters, my top 10 all time anime list consists mostly of the shonen variety:

    1. One Piece: I enjoy the story’s themes, the characters, and the building of the world (pre-timeskip have not watched post-timeskip yet)
    2. Demon Slayer: The world is my favorite anime and Tanjiro is one of my favorite main characters in anime.
    3. Attack on Titan: The story’s themes on war, the ambiguity of human nature, and the stakes that the world present each episode are on different level compared to most anime.
    4. Cowboy Bebop: The Bebop crew is enjoyable, the music mixing with the story’s themes is wonderful, and the character development is well written.
    5. My Dress Up Darling: Enjoy the story and interactions between Wakana Gojo and Marin Kitagawa.
    6. Jujustu Kaisen: The world is dark and gritty, the story premise is interesting, and Gojo Satoru is the best sensei in anime.
    7. Black Clover: Interesting world and good characters
    8. Naruto and Naruto Shippuden: My childhood anime with an interesting story and premise (but does have a lot of filler)
    9. Bleach: Characters are enjoyable
    10. My Hero Academia: The heroes and the villains present interesting stories, but I am not one to enjoy a lot of slice of life high school drama

Let me show you my top 10 list of anime that I enjoyed. This is list answer the “How and why did this anime become your favorite anime?” question

1.Attack on Titan because I love me Titan-shifting powers, the ODM gears, the idea and concept of Giant Human-looking man-eating monster brinking mankind(more like Eldian Kind) to the brink of extinction, and idea of the oppressed becoming oppressors.

2.Dr. Stone because I love it’s concept and idea of an unknown phenomenon turning humanity into stone which resulted in the end of civilization and it’s up to Senku and friends to return civilization by making it and one of the characters of Shishio Tsukasa because the type of villains I like are Villains who commit wrongs to commit a right.

3.Kingdom because it’s presence and storytelling as well as I have a thing with History.

4.Gundam because It reminds me of Star Wars because the beam sabers, I love me some giant robots, and the idea of neither side is good nor evil and every side has good guys and bad guys.

5.Demon Slayer because I like story, characters such as the Fire Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku and the Sound Hashira Tengen Asui, and fight scenes.

6.My Hero Academia because I like storytelling, characters, fight scenes, the character development, the quirks, and the Shie Hassaikai Arc.

7.One Punch Man because of the fights and the set up.

8.Hunter X Hunter because I like storytelling, it’s power-system Nen, the Phantom Troupe, the Chimera Ants, the Chimera Anti Arc, the Nen-Abilities, and the Nen Categories although my favorite nen category is enhancer.

9.Magi because I like it’s power system Magoi, the fantasy world it’s set on, and how the cultures for each country within the world of Magi are inspired by many others cultures such ancient egyptian culture, ancient greek, ancient roman culture, arabian culture, you name it.

10.Arslan Senki because the cultures of the countries within the world of Arslan Senki although I like culture the Pars’ Culture the most as well as it’s presence and vibe.

As for What is my favorite type of anime? and Which is my favorite genre of anime:

My favorite type and genre of anime are mecha anime, shonen anime, fighting anime, historical anime, action-packed anime, and adventure anime.

As for Do I enjoy the shonen genre more or the seinen genre more:

I enjoy the shonen genre more because it’s one of the genres that I mostly watch and got my interest and attention that attracted to. Although I do like me the Seinen Genre but I tend pay less attention and interest to it.

As for Do I prefer one anime over another anime?:

Well I prefer Durarara over Baccano because Baccano is too dysphoric for my taste because what I’m getting from the Episodes within Baccano is that they don’t know what they want to focus just like Tim Pool’s Cast Castle Vlogs despite that they didn’t make it to my top 5 favorites. But I used them to this question just to get my thoughts and opinion on Baccano out there.

For starters… what’s the difference between type and genre??

      • Anyway, my favorite would be shonen
      • And that answers your question of what do i preffere between shonen and seinen, and i’ll add both are way better than shojo, and i have yet to find even one josei i like
      • My favorite anime is Digimon (specifically Adventure, Adventure 02, and Frontier), grew up watching it and instantly fell in love with the world and chatacters

      My anime top 5

      1. Digimon
      2. Attack On Titan – i love the story, how it shows human nature, and how it shows the characters’s emotions and struggles, it makes them very relatable
      3. Fullmetal Alchemist – Also love the story and characters, the themes it deals with
      4. Detective Conan – Been one of my fav anime since i was a kid, i wanted to become a detective after watching this :D
      5. Hamtaro – Childhood favorite 🐹

It’s too hard to organize my favs in a top 10, but one thing most of my favs share is how relateble the characters are, i also like when an anime (or manga) delves into the psychology of the characters, a few more favs (in no particular order)

      • Code Geass
      • My Hero Academia
      • Death Note
      • Demon Slayer
      • Sword Art Online
      • Soul Eater
      • Dororo
      • Banana Fish
      • Real Account (manga)
      • Zom 100 (manga)

Here’s my Top 10 (so far):

      1. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure – one of the most influential manga series of all time, and easily my favorite. Great fights, amazing characters, good worldbuilding, and glorious meme material, all of which I look for in a series.

      2. My Hero Academia – the first actual anime I watched (not counting Pokémon), so it has a soft spot in my heart. I’m all caught up on the manga so far, and I can’t wait for others to see where the story leads.

      3. Attack on Titan – Easily the best series in terms of worldbuilding, especially season 3 onwards. Levi’s my favorite in this one.

      4. Death Note – L. That is all. Also potato chip scene. And screw Netflix for butchering this series.

      5. Fullmetal Alchemist – Probably number 2 for worldbuilding. Only watched Brotherhood, as it was more in-line with the author’s work, but one day I’ll get around to watching the 2003 anime.

      6. Cowboy Bebop – Another one of Netflix’s live action victims, but the original is still great. Also has one of, if not the best, dubs in anime history.

      7. Kill la Kill – Directed by the same guy who made Gurren Lagann, and it’s about clothing. And lack of clothing. What’s not to love?

      8. Kaguya-sama: Love is War – Quite possibly the most entertaining romantic comedy in recent years. Mostly because its western competition is crap. Hayasaka best girl.

      9. Gurren Lagann – Probably my favorite mecha series so far. Simon and Kamina are great characters. Liked it a lot more than Evangelion.

      10. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – I’m conflicted about this series. It’s not bad, but it was definitely overhyped by the fanbase. The animation is incredible, and ufotable really made this series what it is. The plot, however, has some issues, especially in the arcs after the Red Light District one. Still fun to watch/read.
