Has a teenager I didn’t get to watch S3 because they changed the TV station they were on, and when I did see an episode the animation was so bad compared to S1-S2 that I thought it was just a cheap follow-up, but I have recently started watching S3 on Disney+ and man was I wrong! S3 is just great!

First of all how awesome is it that this animated series is based on the works of Shakespeare?! I don’t know how an action series can get any better than being based on the best English author of all times! Mainly his magnificent “Macbeth” and “Summer Midnight’s Dream” stories.

Second how fascinating is that this may be the ONE AND ONLY production in the tragedy genre in all of Disney history!

And now for the things I like about S3:

-Episodes focused on each gargoyles and not just one character or “bestest girl evar” like in STD and Disney Sequels…

-Naturally diverse characters you can care about and NOT tokens or “wokemon”. So far I’ve seen Hudson’s blind friend, Bronx befriends a Mennonite and of course the perfectly lovable main character of Eliza Mazda who has African and Native heritage.

-They respect CANON from S1-S2 and finished some of the characters stories! (Again please take notes Disney and STD: RESPECT CANON!)

-They used some of the best voice talents from Disney while incorporating AWESOME Star Trek voice actors!

And just look at all the “firsts” they did as a series:

    -first Disney tragedy

-first animated strong action female lead

    -first lead with Native/African heritage

-first use of Star Trek cast as voice actors in animation

-first time travel paradox plots done RIGHT in animated series

-first “inclusive” cast with a diverse hero team

-first over-arching well-designed stories ranging 1, 2 or 3 seasons (this in a time when everything else was episodic and kids were “talked down to” by TV series)

-first animated series with an “intercultural” approach to cultural relations, starting with the human-gargoyles relations but also regarding other countries and nations during their travels around the world

-another high-light is how they talk about the “Illuminati”, a NWO evil freemason secret society which was another taboo in animation

In conclusion, if you oversee and forgive the lower budget animation in S3 you will find interesting compelling stories that you can share with your family and they will enjoy them for sure, Gargoyles is truly a “classic” and I can’t wait to rewatch S1-S2!

Gargoyles is my 2nd favorite show to exist EVER in the history of TV. It’s SO good.

I’m so glad you got the chance to watch S3 and like it!

I always remember hating the third season from when i watched the show as a child. When i rewatched the first two seasons when Disney+ first came out i got a couple of episodes into the 3rd season but quickly gave up. Maybe i was burnt out from basically marathoning the first two seasons, but i thought i noticed a definite drop in quality. The first two seasons are definitely top tier television though. Glad there is finally a reliable way to watch it on demand.
