This was a far superior Clone Wars to the Filoni garbage, and I’ve watched it all, so I can say that without reservation. Sure, Filoni’s hot mess had some good points and moments, but overall it was not really Star Wars in the proper spirit. Filoni played fast and loose with the Force, screwed with races, screwed with continuity to the movies, fucked over Mandolorians, and did stupid shit like bringing back Darth Maul…though Palps kicking the ever loving shit out of Maul and Savage was a cool fight, I’ll admit that. At the end of the day all TCW really was, was the Ashoka show…let’s all love Ashoka and praise her development. Yeah, she did get a good overall character development arc that was well thought out and implemented, but it should not have been all about her. Anyone that says otherwise is full of it, because the final scene in season 7 proves my point.

Tartakovsky’s, however, was pure fucking genius, because he is a freaking genius. That and the artwork was beautiful.

Tartakovsky gave us a Grevious to be feared…..Filoni gave us a cowardly pussy.

Everything that is wrong with Star Wars in general, started with how they handled running TCW.

I’m gonna stop here, because I’ve already had this debate in another TCW thread, and I’m just gonna start down the same old rant paths.

Yes! Seen all of it, i even have the Trump Cards, i’d get up and take a picture to post on here, but my cat’s sitting on my foot 🐱

Ok @Roas, now that you’ve let this out and sparked my curiosity, you’re gonna have to give a little more in depth and ranty explanation, ’cause i absolutely love The Clone Wars!

I direct you to this thread from several months ago. I touch on a lot of it in my debate with DarthGregious. We went at it for a couple of days on it.

If you have further questions on my opinions after reading that, then ask and we can have a go.

I own the entire series on DVD, but I’ve only watched Volume 1. I recently got Volume 2 for my birthday this year.

Even having not watched the second part, I aboslutely love this series. The fight between Anakin and Ventress was very brutal, especially when Anakin was tapping into his dark emotions and was completely whaling on her. The scenes with Durge were great, still sad he isn’t canon anymore.

But perhaps the best scene in the series (that I’ve watched) is when General Grievous was fighting 6 Jedi at once (including Jedi council members Ki-Adi Mundi and Shaak Ti). The way he fights them is very fun to watch, and I love it when he uses his legs to hold and swing his lightsabers. Very disappointed that he was nerfed in both Revenge of the Sith and the Filoni Clone Wars show (even though I still love both of them).

But yeah, this version of Clone Wars is awesome, and I can’t wait to watch the second part when I have the time to do so.

As Roas has said we have talked about this before, so I’ll just make a couple points here in case people don’t want to read all of those posts. First off, I would just like to remind the readers here that Lucas decided to bring Maul back, not Filoni. Filoni was just tasked with how they were going to bring him back. You can choose not to like it, (I for one have always thought that Maul should have stayed dead. I think it takes too much away from the end of TPM) but don’t make Filoni a scapegoat for everything that you don’t like about TCW. It’s ok not to like everything George did in his universe.

On General Grievous, I understand why everyone likes seeing him so scary and deadly in this series, but I think you’re missing what was being told about him in TCW. According to TCW, George Lucas canon, Grievous was a warrior who was constantly switching parts of his organic body for droid-like parts until he was the cyborg we all see in the film and series. He does not have any real connection with the Force. This is the point. A person can have four lightsabers swinging at one time, have training from a former Jedi, and have a cyborg body, and it still does not compare when fighting someone with a mastery of the Force. This idea goes all the way back to A New Hope with Darth Vader talking about the “Technological Terror”. It is why Grievous was able to easily kill the newly knighted Jedi in season 1, but allow Jedi Master Kit Fisto to escape. (Not lose per se, just escape.) This idea of running from Grievous happens again with Ahsoka, and many times with Obi-Wan throughout the series. It’s not that he’s not menacing to the Jedi in TCW, he just can never quite kill the ones who are well trained. And as these are the ones we largely follow in the series, his abilities are never allowed to really shine.

Side note, I think Filoni rewriting part of season 7 to add in Padmé but not adding Grievous anywhere was a misstep. He looked so good during those two seconds in the final season! It’s a shame we never really got to see him.

CW03 was matched up with all of the books written at the time and flowed from book to comic to show.

Then the dark times happened and TC!08 was greenlit and the great 03 show and all of the books were thrown in the corner forgotten by the Cowgirl who loves to hear himself talk.

        #198874

You mean thrown out by George Lucas, who made the decision to forget the known lore in favor of his own stories in this era. Filoni had nothing to do with the decision to get rid of the previous canon. He was just working with what Lucas gave him. Again, you can not like Filoni, but don’t blame him for all of Lucas’s decision that you don’t like.

I liked the scene with Anakin and Padmé, it was a sweet scene, though the deleted scene is hilarious 😹

I think everyone wanted to see more Grievous, and other characters, but unfortunately disney only let them make 12 episodes 😒

My favorite Clone Wars 2003 scene 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

            @KBGMan01
, this scene is from season 3, so if you absolutely don’t want any spoilers (not even minor ones that have nothing to do with plot), don’t watch until you’ve watched the whole series

            #198915

Not sure what this has to do with the conversation but ok. Lol.

            #198932

It’s funny. That’s what it has to do with it.

            #198935

Considering we have a bunch of TCW08 appologists in the chat it is fucking relavant.

TCW08 is canon violating shit. George was cut out of the loop by the people he put in charge. People who are on record as far back as 05 stating that EU Canon must be destroyed cause they didnt like its depth.
