If you could go back in time and change 1 event from happening,  (for all nerd kind), which would it be?
      1. Stop George Lucas from selling Star Wars to Disney.

      2.  Give George RR Martin the motivation (inspiration) to finish Winds of Winter before HBO Game of Thrones.

      3.  Be able to stop Josstice League and keep Zack Snyder continuing his Snyder verse.

4 or have your own suggestion that would benefit all nerdom.

      Discuss….

As tempting as it would be (I have an endless list when it comes to things I would change), I wouldn’t do anything. Changing one thing may not make something better and might in fact lead to worse things. I could erase a tragic event in my life and might end being a loser because of it or saving somebody’s life could end the lives of others. Time is not something I want to mess with.

But for the sake of this topic:

      1) Show Sony the consequences of moving their company to California so that the company doesn’t suffer from being woke.
      2) Convince Japan to limit foreigners from entering Japan (I’m talking about Leftists who are trying to infect Japanese culture).
      3) Get Warren Ellis fired. For those in the dark, he and his group (if I’m not mistaken, it’s the same group that also has his sexual allegations as well) are the ones responsible for starting the woke virus in comics and also putting gigantic shit stains on Castlevania with that awful show. I gotta find the source of that info since it’s been years.

      4) Prevent the existence of NeoGAF’s worst users (who later founded ResetEra).

I’ll stop right here because I’m starting to think like a time-travel villain.

Does going back in time and telling myself to not get so invested in Star Wars count?

If not, I would go back and tell GRRM NOT to let to Hacks have at GOT…. Not for the reason you may think…. DnD are masters at adapting source-material, but neither can write original material and one of them is so dumb he gagged Deadpool. The Reason is George would have finished the damn books had it not been for winning the Lottery with HBO. At his pacing prior to Lottery Win he was cranking out a GOT Book about every 4.5 years, worse case we would have had Winds of Winter in 2016 and Dream this year. Best case Winds in 2014 and Dream 2019.  I did not count the Ice Dragon in this “remembers its not part of ASOIAF” BS.

I would tell myself not to get invested in Game of Thrones.   Completely understand.   I love your answer.

Sony and the desecration of comics.  Good answers.  I’ll have to check on this ResetEra company.

I have been invested in AsoiaF since day one of the books. As a book fan first I new in S-1 at the  Dany and Khal wedding night seen… Show made it a Rape scene, books it was very romantic and tender. I had a bad feeling from that minute “This will not end well”. That was not needed, George had plenty of shock in the books.

                – Stop TSR from selling to WotC

                – Make HBO sign the GoT cast for 10 years and delay the show by 7 years so George gets ahead with the books.

I’d go back to 4th of July Weekend 1982. Of course I am a nobody and would have no way to actually change anything, so I’d say fuck it and crash at the movie theaters for the weekend when the Top 15 box office looked like:

How about when going back, taking several books with you.

                ie.)

                1. sports outcomes (to make bets that would take care of you financial needs).

                2. having a spreadsheet/plan of investments (when to buy/sell stocks, bonds, currency, crypto, etc.)

                3. having a lawyer/accountant (tax specialist) that can tell you what to do to stay under the radar/what to do for the best tax rates to be in (where to live/buy property/etc.) in the past during those years.

                4. as you are going back in time, you officially don’t have a valid ID: drivers license, birth certificate, etc.  what can you do to meet #3 and become an official “person” as too many banks, investments, etc. need you to prove you are “real”.

                  @Legatus_Legionis
                  Stop breaking the temporal-prime-directive.

But you go back far enough you do not need “ID”  Say early 1900’s. Make investments in companies of that time period, Create a Will leaving all your money to Yourself under an new name 40 year later 1956 easy by then to have ID in a safe deposit box for you Also simple enough to fabricate your own death if you were a recluse to then pass on the wealth to you in 1956 hang out long enough to meet Walt Disney and invest in is little project with you owning 20% of it. Then from there do the same thing with another time jump 1980 to invest in “Apple’ Wal*mart” Then anther to invest in Microsoft, and Verizon.

You now hold stock in or Ownership in some of the Biggest companies in the world. Then jump forward in time and find the pill that gives extended life.

                  BTW Original Highlander outline :)

Hey, who is to say I did not already go back in time (sometime in the near future)?

I am just waiting to get a call from a lawyer saying I have inherited….

If I don’t go back in time to royally re-write history so the present doesn’t suck so much, or eliminate my birth so I don’t have to bother with the present that sucks so much, I would create a time loop and live in between 1979 and 1999. Maybe to 2004 if I want to watch LOTR.

I hate the present, if it wasn’t obvious. The 80’s are where I belong.

This is such a good thread topic. It is so creative. The responses are excellent, especially from Legatus. It’s funny because I am reading a sci-fi book right now, where a guy found a way to put himself in cryo and preserve himself for millenia in suspended animation. His clame to fame when he was brought back to life was the fact that, like an Egyptian Pharoah, he buried valuables with himself in time capsules in various locations around the world. Those valuables were just simple collectibles. It made him one of the wealthiest people in the world thousands of years in the future to have comics, toys, baseball cards, video games, and other things like that buried in his cryogenics tomb.

I had been thinking about your question a long while now and I was wondering what I would write down that I would do if I could go back in time to benefit all of nerdom and after a long time of thinking this is my answer though it may not be what most would expect.

If I could go back in time, I kind of hope it is the type of time travel that is similar to X-Men Days of Future Past in that I would send my current mind with all it’s current knowledge, memories, experiences and my 31 year old mental maturity back into my younger body I had in the early 2000s or maybe even further back into 1995 when I was 5 years old.

I have to say I at 31 feel like I have alot of regrets of many many things I didn’t do in my youth that other people did, like learn how to ride a bike at an early age, making a childhood best friend instead of just hanging around my siblings and cousins, taking Karate instead of Tae Kwon Do to learn how to better protect myself at a younger age from bullies, trying to be less angry as I was when I was a kid I would regularly get angry over the smallest things cause I had a hard time controlling my temper as a kid and still do now as an adult, maybe do more hobby courses that actually intrigued me like doing a drawing class, gone out more instead of stay at home, gotten my first kiss from a girl by age 15, never giving up on liking Power Rangers when I was 14 after being bullied for liking it in middle school and just overall learned how to be a more confident and self sufficient person at a younger age like say getting a part time job at age 16 instead of 23.

I in my younger days had squander so much of it away just being scared and staying at home being angry with the world, if I could X-Men Days of Future Past myself into my younger body now, I’d used time travel as my second chance to build up a better life and future for myself by 2021 and try to have the things I long to have now at 31 years old like a loving and loyal beautiful wife, having a few kids with her when I was 25 years and having a good paying career after years of hard studying in school to become a lawyer or something that pays well and can get me a bigger house than the one I live in now in this timeline with my parents.

Not exactly me using it to save nerdom but me using it to save a nerd and giving him a better life and that nerd is me. If I could go back in time and live my youth differently to have a better future than now…….I would totally do it. The only drawback is I might have to relive alot of hardship of I endured in my childhood like my parents not understanding I have Aspergers and yelling at me endlessly for my faults they didn’t understand that came with having the condition, I might have to go through bullying from other kids again for being different and live in a time where help for Aspergers is like years away and alot of things that made life so hard for me growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s.

I don’t know how much control I would even have in my life even if I could go back in time because I’d be a kid again and children only have so much choices in their lives while the rest is mom and dad knowing what is best for you.

I just want to have a better life and time travel might be the only way to course correct my life now to build a better future. I just can’t motivate myself at 31 to learn anything new or try anything new especially now with the lockdown, PC nonsense and other crazy stuff like that.

I’m getting older and older and not amounting to anything like I want.
