There’s a soft spot in my heart for the Archie TMNT Adventures books.

But if you wanted something less frivolous I’d say the original Crow, and if you want a compelling, high-end read then John Byrne’s Next Men run (both of them) is legit. More recently I got a kick out of Canto for it’s simple narrative fun. My top pick for most compelling read is Dave Lapham’s Stray Bullets series – it’s an absolute gem of small social interaction weirdness laced with psychopathy that could rival Sin City. Those books will just take off on the back issue market if anyone ever does anything with it.

And I’d like to pimp Cerebus because it’s got to be great, but I’ve been meaning to read it now since like 1990 but never have.

As for future picks, I’ve got up to date runs of Something Is Killing The Children and Red Mother chillin’ in the bins, but I haven’t read ’em. At this point I’ll probably just trade wait and then have the monthlies slabbed if they pop.

I mentioned it a few times already, but Ulli & Marquand are a favorite of mine for sure. Lots of masculinity, dark humor and gore. You’ll especially enjoy it if you like Warhammer fantasy (prior to the release of Age of Sigmar which is garbage). It’s just fun regardless.

Tales From The Ten Tailed Cat is also fun which consists of short stories told by various patrons in a tavern.

Horror anthologies are also a blast. I love some Tales From The Crypt, Tales From the Darkside, Creepshow and so on.
