And to answer the title of this thread:  “Misery like company.  No one is allowed to be happier than they are/arn’t.”

I said something similar on another thread, but we’re basically living in age of where mediocrity is being celebrated and dragging the exceptional down to their level, rather than being inspired to be the best version of themselves. This is just another symptom of that.

One has to wonder how exactly we got here. I mean, at this point, we know where SJW’s come from. But why do employers continue to suffer their nonsense? They seem to be completely out of touch and assume all young people must think and behave like this, when in truth SJW’s are a vocal minority who are making opportunities for the rest of us harder than necessary.

Somewhat related: Douglas Murray recently talked about woke Millennial’s in the work force are completely undermining it, but only because older generations can’t seem to find the spine to stand up to them and fire them. Their cowardice is infuriating to watch.

Kinda hijacking this thread here, but I watched this recently and couldn’t help but think of it as rather related:

I just… Don’t understand why anyone would do this to themselves. They claim to be rebelling against a “hyper-conservative Christian culture” which does not exist. Imagine hating yourself so much you rebrand yourself into something you’re not just so you can feel accepted by the current social contagion.

“The Resistance” are the biggest conformists imaginable.

A mere five years ago I would’ve agreed, but now I actually take issue with the whole “It’s fine as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone” stance, given how completely irresponsible some grown adults are.

Society isn’t a random assortment/collection of enlightened individuals; we’re social animals who learn behaviors from one another. When someone starts to act in ways that are self-destructive and we permit it because “it’s their life,” there will be others who will look to emulate that and think it’s fine because it was permitted in the first place. Then there will be others who will copy them – It’s a domino effect. Before long you get an increasing number of deviants who will try to reshape society for their benefit, and don’t afford you the same kind of permissiveness you gave them: Which is exactly what we’re going through now.

It is about society’s physical, mental and emotional health, and preventing foolish people from making decisions that they would likely regret later in life. A nation and its people are like a household and the family that resides within it it – You look after it because it does affect you and those you care about, even if indirectly.
