Most Hated Video Game Character

In the forum suggestions section, I created a favorite character in video games forum. In this forum, we are doing the opposite of that by discussing the characters we hate. To start out, I hate Micah Bell from Red Dead Redemption 2. The reason because he is the main antagonist of the game and destroyed Arthur Morgan’s and John Marston’s lives. The questions that I need answered are:

1) Who is the character you hate?

2) Why do you hate this character without spoiling the game (minor spoilers are preferable but not major spoilers)

3) What is this character’s legacy in his/her video game or video game series? (In other words, are they memorable or just forgettable by their actions)

Answer these questions and ask me any questions about Micah Bell if you want. His main legacy is memorable because he was a evil mastermind that won in the end.

I saw this post and just had to give my thoughts. There is one character that I absolutely hate but its for all the right reasons which I guess makes her a good character because she is the villain and thus you are supposed to hate her??? She is Queen Brahne from Final Fantasy 9.
I HATE THIS BITCH SHE IS PURE EVIL
I’ll try to say as little as possible to avoid spoilers for those who havent played FF9(i havent even beaten it yet myself but i cant stand her). She is a horrible mother to her daughter Garnet. She only cares about power and is willing to exploit anyone she can including her own family to achieve that. She ruthlessly kills anyone she views as opposition and does not have a single loving bone in her body. At least her subordinates are not as hateful as she is and actually learn how selfish this queen is and have second thoughts. All in all I really really hate this queen because of her selfishness and greed for power and disregard for her own daughter and she is totally unsympathetic. Usually jrpg’s at least try to make the bad guys actions a little bit justifiable(Sephiroth from FF7, Adam and Eve from Nier Automata, etc) but not here. Queen Brahne is the definition of evil. That is why I absolutely loathe this character. Death to the Queen

Flynn from Uncharted 2. The guy is a pos and it irked me that the player doesn’t get the opportunity to get even with him the way they want. I wouldn’t say Flynn is up there with some of the top game villains but everytime I saw this SOB I wanted to beat him.

I would also say Penguin in Arkham city. There is a part where he torments Batman big time. At least here, the game gives the gamer the opportunity to dish out some serious beats

The main character of Life is Strange, now I havn’t played the game myself and maybe never will (I do own it know from the super Square Enic bundle with like 50 games that was on a steep sale a few weeks ago) but i watched Loius Le Vau’s playthrough of it.

Why? She has time bending super powers and simply doesn’t uses them to make her life better and that honestly pisses me off, no attempt in training these powers either really, I have been facepalming so much watching that game, what a waste of a cool super power.

Hello Marka_Ragnos_, thank you for your reply. I am glad that you like Final Fantasy 9 as it is sandwich between two popular Final Fantasy titles in Final Fantasy 8 and Final Fantasy 10. I also view Final Fantasy 9 as an underrated game within the Final Fantasy game series. Now, unto your selection, this is an amazing choice of a character in Queen Brahne. The reasons that you hate her are completely justified. To do evil deeds for evil sake including exploiting her own family! This is a classical example of a character that should be hated in video games. Thanks again for your contribution to the forum.

Hello AJJourneyman, thank you for your reply. Penguin and Flynn are great choices for hated characters within video games. One thing that I forgot to note is that popularity of the character does not matter as long as you hate him or her and you give the reasons as to why you hate him or her. You did both of these things so you are good. I have not played Uncharted 2 but Flynn sounds like the type of hateful character that I am looking for when he makes you want to beat him up. Penguin is a classical Batman villain and is another great choice to add here. Anyone who tortures Batman should be considered one of the most hateful characters in video game history.

Hey MusouTensei, thank you for your reply. I have not played or watched Life is Strange. Nevertheless, the main character of a video game is an interesting choice that no one has attempted yet. I never thought of a character wasting their developmental potential as a possibility of hating a character before…interesting. However, you hate the character and you have given the reasons why you hate the character. Great job.

A- Because Yuna didn’t send him at Macalania Temple when she had the chance. A constant and recurring pain in my ass. Constantly uses status debuffs and got in between the main love interest and my protag.

3) What is this character’s legacy in his/her video game or video game series? (In other words, are they memorable or just forgettable by their actions)

A- Memorable in the fact that I was very elated when he was finally dead. His backstory is also really well fleshed out and in the end I at least could sympathize with this character that I hated.

Which character do you hate?

Off the top of my head, Emile from Noble Team in HALO Reach. He’s just a stupid, not funny, douchebag character & a lot of people are on his nuts because of his stupid helmet. The only thing good about the character is the way he died, he went out kind of cool I guess. Also, whoop-dee-doo, you carved a skull into your helmet’s visor & have a big kukri knife. Let me throw a fuckin’ parade for your dumbass.

Hello AliusNeo, thank you for your reply. I played Final Fantasy X on PS4 and I hate Seymour Grotto. I agree with you that he was a pain in the ass because every time I thought that I saw the last of him by finishing a boss fight. Guess what…he comes back again not once, not twice, but three times. Honestly, I felt by the third time that you versus him as a boss that he should have stay dead the second time. I am glad that you choose memorable instead of forgettable because I still remember this villain’s actions in FFX to this day.

Hello Jaidabecca, I appreciate your reply. I have not played HALO Reach but based upon your description of the character…he sounds very hate-able. You gave good reasons as to why you hate the character. Not only that he also sounds forgettable because he is only memorable for the way that he died in the game, his character, and his outfit. You can tell me if I am wrong though about memorable versus forgettable. I respect your opinion and appreciate it.

Have you guys played “Control” that video game with the red haired girl with force powers? I haven’t because it reminds me of the Disney Star Wars trilogy. People seem to love it. But I’m sorry I just cant play it. Is it woke? I don’t know but I definitely think there is a agenda in the video game industry to promote strong female characters. I think most video games should give you the ability to customize and make your own character. Because I don’t want to be forced to play a character that seems to have come from Kathleen Kennedy’s imagination.. But think about it. Just look at all the games with female leads in the PS5 reveal presentation last week. What do you think about this? Am I overreacting?

Hello TheLastFanFiction, thank you for your reply. I have heard of Slippy Toad from Star Fox. He is a really annoying character so I understand why you hate him. I also thank you for answering all my questions about the character that you hate. The reasons that you hate Slippy Toad is understandable as well as his legacy in the Star Fox series.
