Got round to watching the VP debate. Some thoughts:
– First part was painful. There are more important things than the virus, but this is gonna come up again at the next two debates isn’t it.
– Pence dodged some questions here and there but once he got to topics he was strong on he steamrolled Harris. She pretty much fell apart as soon as the economy came up and it just went into freefall from there.
– Smooth-brains cope at Harris’ incompetence by saying Pence was “mansplaining.” Neoliberals are still stuck in 2015, apparently. Yay.
– Pence is a lot better at this than Trump. He shows you can be assertive and counter-argue effectively without constantly interrupting your opponent.
– OH SHIT HE’S BRINGING UP HARRIS’ LAW RECORD GET THE POPCORN
– Most people will just remember the fly because VP debates are the “boring” parts of the election. But if the VP is a factor in how working-class Americans vote, this is a disaster for the DNC. Republicans should just campaign on “Vote Biden, Get Harris.”
Addendum: I’ve been out of the loop on American politics somewhat because of what’s been going in my country, so I thought the Green New Deal was just some crazy socialist shite cooked up by AOC and none of the neoliberals in the DNC Establishment would stand for it, but holy fucking shit, they do. Neoliberals are generally laissez-faire on economics, the fact they would go into bed with the far-left to this extent just hows desperate they are.
