With the news of Cindy Williams passing (Laverne and Shirly) it got me thinking about how I love watching old shows (even ones before my time) whereas new stuff I really dislike.

If you watch shows like “Laverne and Shirly”, “Petticoat Junction”, “The Andy Griffith Show” and many others.  One thing you will notice is that they are warm and light hearted.  This is in stark contrast to the dark, gritty and overly sexualized and politicized shows of today.  And I think that is the difference. Life itself is usually serious and often dark and gritty.  So we naturally seek refuge in our TV screens with something that is not.  But now TV reflects daily life.  Who wants to watch that?  I don’t.

      Entertainment.  Family fun.

A time to forget about the ills of the real world.

That is exactly what most things created in the last two decades have been missing.

Now it’s just hot politicized garbage.  They might as well just livestream a dumpster fire.
