Thanks for posting. One of my buddy’s favorite bands and he was a National Merit Scholar. I am not though. Did some reading about Disturbed and they were having a casting call for auditions when Draiman showed up. They did some covers, but he was the one guy who came with original material that he wanted to try out. Opie and Anthony used to mock the band and say the singer sounded like he had Tourette’s, which I did find funny, but I like the guy’s singing style.

I credit Disturbed for being one of the bands that introduced me into the rock and then metal when they first came out. The Stupify video haunted me, and I liked that lol. I give them credit, they’ve grown to have very powerful messages in their music.

Might post it later, but there is a parody video called The Greatest HIT of Disturbed and it rips on the band. Thing is, people posted it to mock the fans and Disturbed fans ended up totally loving it. And that was the thing about Draiman’s audition. He brought a guitar riff style to vocals and supposedly, the band got really excited when they heard him try out.

All I know is I love their music and have for years. Some of their songs are normal fair for hard rock/metal but some have serious messages. And the dude can sing. His sound is very unique in my mind.

This cover he did (which I am sure everyone knows) is ridiculous. This version of it live on Conan was just one of the coolest things I have ever heard.

It’s always a treat to see a vocalist be able to do this kinda stuff live. I’ve seen singers do one thing on an album/song, but totally botch it and actually suck live.
