Olympic officials: Chinese tennis star Peng says she is safe

Missing Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai told Olympic officials in a video call from Beijing that she was safe and well, the International Olympic Committee said Sunday after Peng reappeared in public at a youth tournament in Beijing, according to photos released by the organizer.

Photos?  How do we know that were recent photos and not something from the archives?

The 30-minute call came amid growing global alarm over Peng after she accused a former leading Communist Party official of sexual assault. China’s ruling Communist Party has tried to quell fears abroad while suppressing information in China about Peng.

By only allowing a phone call?  Not allowing video call, or in-person?  Was that really her then?

Sunday’s call — … — appears to be Peng’s first direct contact with sports officials outside China since she disappeared from public view on Nov. 2.

If that was her, and not an imposter.

Peng “thanked the IOC for its concern about her well-being,” the Switzerland-based Olympic body said in a statement.

“She explained that she is safe and well, living at her home in Beijing, but would like to have her privacy respected at this time. That is why she prefers to spend her time with friends and family right now,” the statement said.

Sure sounds like, if that WAS her, she is under house arrest, and had a gun to her head to say those things, in a typical hostage situation.

Say what we want you to say, say it convincingly, or you and your friends and family will not be hurt more than we deem necessary.

Another reason for not having a video call, as then she could have made that hand sign for HELP.

Peng adds to a growing number of Chinese businesspeople, activists and ordinary people who have disappeared in recent years after criticizing party figures or in crackdowns on corruption or pro-democracy and labor rights campaigns.

So does anyone outside of the CCP think she is SAFE? ! ?

Some reemerge weeks or months later without explanation, suggesting they are warned not to disclose they were detained or the reason.

Bach, the IOC president, has invited Peng to join him at a dinner when he arrives in Beijing in January “which she gladly accepted,” the IOC said Sunday. Terho and Li were also invited.

After her re-education and fear of reprisal by the CCP has sunk in enough she will be willing to do whatever the CCP wants.

Peng’s disappearance and official silence in response to appeals for information prompted calls for a boycott of the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February, a prestige event for the Communist Party. The women’s professional tour threatened to pull events out of China unless the safety of the former No. 1 doubles player was assured.

And by not seeing her, and seeing her condition, I would say her safety and concerns for the events are STILL alarming.

If not for the pressure outside of CCP, PENG would has disappeared like so many others in communist regimes.

Even if Peng’s accusation is deemed valid, people in China often are jailed or face other penalties for embarrassing the party by publicizing complaints about abuses instead of going through the secretive, often unresponsive official system.

The status of star athletes such as Peng is especially sensitive. State media celebrate their victories as proof the party is making China strong. But the party is vigilant about making sure they cannot use their prominence and public appeal to erode its image.

Covering up a pile of dung, it is still dung… and that is exactly what the CCP and all communists/marxists are…. SH!T

Steve Simon, the WTA’s chairman and CEO, expressed concern for Peng’s safety after Hu, the newspaper editor, posted two videos Saturday that appeared to show her in a restaurant.

“While it is positive to see her, it remains unclear if she is free and able to make decisions and take actions on her own, without coercion or external interference. This video alone is insufficient,” Simon said. ”Our relationship with China is at a crossroads.”

Without being able to verify a date (it could be old vid), or she was only out and doing exactly what the CCP wanted others to see…

Correct.  This video alone is insufficient on proving anything.

WTA suspends tennis tournaments in China over Peng Shuai

The head of the women’s professional tennis tour announced Wednesday that all WTA tournaments would be suspended in China because of concerns about the safety of Peng Shuai, a Grand Slam doubles champion who accused a former high-ranking government official in that country of sexual assault.

It is about time someone stands up for her.

China was supposed to be the site of several tennis tournaments next year, including the season-ending WTA Finals.

    WAS.

“While we now know where Peng is, I have serious doubts that she is free, safe, and not subject to censorship, coercion, and intimidation.”

    Exactly!

“In good conscience, I don’t see how I can ask our athletes to compete there when Peng Shuai is not allowed to communicate freely and has seemingly been pressured to contradict her allegation of sexual assault,” Simon said. “Given the current state of affairs, I am also greatly concerned about the risks that all of our players and staff could face if we were to hold events in China in 2022.”

And that include ANY and ALL events where the CCP is involved.

The IOC repeated that it is using “quiet diplomacy” in Peng’s situation, saying, “given the circumstances and based on the experience of governments and other organizations, is indicated to be the most promising way to proceed effectively in such humanitarian matters.”

“We share the same concern as many other people and organizations about the well-being and safety of Peng Shuai,” the IOC said in a press release.

    BUT… money talks!

The IOC WANTS the money it can make with the CCP.

Beijing is angry at the WTA for pulling out of China. But it can’t let Chinese people know about it

The women’s professional tennis tour just called it quits on China. But within China, there is no news about the decision, no public discussion as to why, nor any response from Chinese tennis fans.

Dictator’s regime will do all in its power to not let the truth be told, especially to the sheep they control.

“China’s external propaganda on this matter is like a paper box that cannot hold water in front of its own people,” said Xiao Qiang, editor-in-chief of China Digital Times, a US-based news website tracking censorship in China.

“How ironic that they hope to use this narrative to convince the international community.”

Their tightly CCP controlled social media and news organizations within CCP controlled areas will not talk about it, but their external links outside of CCP has been attacking anyone whom talks about it, including the WTA itself.

“What we actually see is desperation, the editor-in-chief of one state-run newspaper rushing out on Twitter and banging his dishpan. The point is to distract the world from obvious and damning facts.”

    And especially now since…

The lengths Beijing has gone to hide its anger toward the WTA from the Chinese public shows just how serious and sensitive the scandal is in the eyes of the ruling Communist Party — especially before its twice-a-decade leadership reshuffle next fall, when President Xi Jinping is expected to seek a third term in power.

As vice premier, Zhang, 75, served on the party’s seven-person Politiburo Standing Committee — the country’s supreme leadership body — alongside Xi from 2012 to 2017.

“It’s kind of been an external storm, and they wanted to keep the storm outside China,” Bandurski said. “It’s an extremely sensitive issue for the leadership. I think probably one of the most sensitive news stories that’s happened in the last decade.”

With all this having over the coming Olympics and their regime reshuffle next fall…

And then their hostility to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet, etc.

For the safety of ALL the world’s elite athletes, don’t go and become human hostages to the CPP regime and their propaganda.

The suspension of all WTA tournaments in China because of concerns about the safety of Peng Shuai, a Grand Slam doubles champion who accused a former government official there of sexual assault, could result in cancellations of those events beyond 2022, the head of the women’s professional tennis tour told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

    Horray!

He said the move to put a halt to the tour’s play in China, including Hong Kong, came with the backing of the WTA Board of Directors, players, tournaments and sponsors. It is the strongest public stand against China taken by a sports body — and one that could cost the WTA millions of dollars.

If it is unsafe for one, it is unsafe for ALL.

So glad to hear ALL involved in this sport is in support of this action.

Beijing is set to host the Winter Games beginning on Feb. 4, and IOC President Thomas Bach said on Nov. 21 that he spoke with Peng — a three-time Olympian — on a 30-minute video call. The IOC did not release video or a transcript of the exchange and said only that Bach reported that she said she was well.

You can also repeatedly say the debunked fake russian dossier is accurate, or that the moon is made out of cheese, that does not make it TRUTHFUL.

The fact the money greed of the IOC is so willing to help cover-up this coercion is sickening, and how they were more than winning to bend over backwards to award the CCP with more Olympic game$…

Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai denies sexual assault accusation in video released online

Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai said on Sunday that she had never accused anyone of sexually assaulting her, and that a social media post she had made early last month had been misunderstood.

So says one who has been removed from public in a communist controlled territory, where “re-education” and disappearances are common.

Peng’s well-being became a matter of concern among the global tennis community and rights groups when she appeared to allege that a former Chinese vice premier, Zhang Gaoli, had sexually assaulted her in the past. After that post, she was absent from public view for nearly three weeks.

    And is still so.

Forced changing of stories, blackmail, etc.

    Common CCP MO.
