OnlyFans reverses ban on posting ‘sexually explicit’ content

(Reuters) – OnlyFans, an online subscription platform known for adult content, on Wednesday scrapped its planned policy that would have prohibited users from posting any material containing “sexually explicit conduct.”

The sudden reversal, less than a week after the company first announced the ban, is good news for a community of sex workers who have turned to OnlyFans to safely earn money online during the pandemic, but demonstrates the fragility of the so-called creator economy, which has allowed content creators to earn money directly from fans.

Guess the threat of 95% of their creators leaving and destroying their revenue and growth.

“There’s always a chance (OnlyFans) can implement the policy again,” he said. “I think everyone has to keep one eye open.”

And you know why?  That is because they only…

    …suspended the planned October 1 policy change…

Suspended and did not remove the threat of censorship in the future.

The company sought to raise funding at a $1 billion valuation, according to a Bloomberg report, but despite its rapid growth, struggled to attract investors due to its image as a platform for users to sell sexually explicit content.

Oh, so this was NOT about MC or Visa not liking paying for porn, but because OnlyFans wanted to raises funds and most investors wants to stay away from porn.

In an interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday, OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely said the company was forced to ban pornography on the site and blamed “unfair” treatment by banks …

Well, your site is all ABOUT the PORN.  And females degrading themselves for the camera/live streams for clicks, likes, and funds.

OnlyFans is the Pimp, and the “creators” your whores.

You ARE the Playboy and Penthouse of the 22nd Century.

I really don’t get all the fuss and extreme flip flopping. First, people support the idea that anybody has the right to earn their living through any legal means possible. Then, when people get rich on OnlyFans, people start making fun of these people for degrading themselves and whatnot (because adult content has a stigma ofc)

Then, when OnlyFans announced they are going to not allow porn anymore (thus not supporting people getting rich by ”degrading themselves”) the same people start to bark at OnlyFans for the huge mistake they made etc, but when OnlyFans removed the ban because they realized how much it would hurt them, these people then start accusing OnlyFans for being money hungry and so on.

In a capitalistic society, people do what brings them the most revenue ofc. As for OnlyFans, they made a mistake by banning the porn but realized they’re gonna be screwed so they removed it obviously.

As for the OnlyFans content creators, if they can rack up thusands or millions of dollars for doing something they like (even tho porn industry has its stigma) then hey, go for it. The only people losing here are the simps who pay these creators thinking they can be ackowledged by their idols. But that’s how the society works. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

“Stigmas” generally exist for a reason. Degrading yourself ,as you mentioned, is just that degrading yourself whether you do it for free or for money. In fact it’s probably worse if you do it for money.

If the freedom to create pornography exists then why should the freedom to criticize it also not exist?

As far as the company I can assure you any decision they make is based solely on bringing in money and nothing else.

More crossroads are being reached all the time. How much lower will people sink for money? How much longer will money be used as an excuse for sub-human behavior? There comes a time when these human batteries run out and they lose the ability to experience pleasure, so before you burn out, what is your soul worth?

Now hold on, The devils advocate needs a voice:
Isn’t Morals according to some about the person choices and not about society? Or is it about what society deems moral?

If a Person has no issue performing sex-acts for all to see then their morals say it is ok, correct?
        So Moral

If a Person is performing and thousands or tens-of-thousands are watching is not that large group a Society, and clearly approving?
        So Moral

If a Person or group does not approve of it then they could simply not support it which is also moral for them, is it not?
        So another set of morals

If money was not involved what would the morals be for the people doing the sex act? If no money was involve would they do it? would people watch if it was free? would those complaining it was not moral complain if it was free? In a socialistic society should sex be free for all? Should brown M&M’s be removed from the bag? what about Green only bags? Coke or Pepsi? Ford or Chevy?

Well, yeah, that’s the result of constant neocon propaganda telling Boomers/Gen X that free market capitalism is somehow a conservative value – It’s not, really. Old-fashioned conservatives from a hundred years ago, while they wouldn’t have a problem with a plumber starting his own business, would’ve been against unrestricted/unregulated capitalism because they were aware it would’ve brought about massive societal changes at a rapid pace and been detrimental to public morality.

Then they wonder Gen Y/Gen Z are so cynical towards capitalism and patriotism: What they don’t realize is that, every time they say something like, “America is an idea! Anyone can take part in free markets and individualism!” (The Founding Fathers are probably spinning in their graves at Mach 7). They’re effectively telling them that the value of the nation is effectively the same as that of a Wal-Mart.

Something like OnlyFans is very emblematic of the times we’re living in – Women of even fifty years ago would’ve scorned the prospect of selling their bodies to total strangers. That something like it even exists suggests a degradation of moral values at such a level where the only value that counts is money and nothing but money – And that includes sex being reduced to a commodity that can be bought and sold.

I know quite a few paleoconservatives who are in favor of banning pornography – Not just immoral shit going on behind the scenes like sex trafficking and child abuse, but all porn. Porn today isn’t at all like how it was pre-2000s where the most scandalous thing you would find is a magazine featuring young women with big knockers at the back of a trade counter. Thanks to the Internet, not only is it more readily available than ever, but all kinds of perverse shit gets uploaded. This is something that has never happened before, and young people of today are getting a warped sense of sexuality from it. Porn doesn’t just normalize certain fetishes, it also normalizes the idea of “sex work” – So something like OnlyFans should unsurprising, the fact that women would look at becoming an amateur porn star and actually think, “Yeah, I’d like that as a career choice.” (You could even argue this is a “lesser evil,” because they’re making content on their own terms rather than through some deviant agent with a scat/urine fetish).

What is it that we say?
        Go woke go broke.

OF Claimed in the article that they put out that their ‘workers’ earned 4 billion dollars last year. OF takes 20% off the top. The only prople on OF who earn money are strippers or porn stars.

So this reversal means that they learned that they have nothing that will earn them their 20% if they fuck over the strippers & porn stars.

ofc you can criticize it. I’m just confused when people flip flop and criticize OnlyFans for banning it and the criticizing them for taking the ban away.

Anyway, I agree that there is a reason for the stigma. But if a person really likes it and earns big stacks then so be it, it might not be the prettiest way to earn money but if it works then go for it, none of my business.

OF Claimed in the article that they put out that their ‘workers’ earned 4 billion dollars last year. OF takes 20% off the top. The only prople on OF who earn money are strippers or porn stars.

Some people might not do it for the money but because they enjoy it. Their body so they can do what they want with it.

So this reversal means that they learned that they have nothing that will earn them their 20% if they fuck over the strippers & porn stars

Is there a problem? A company realized they made a move which will cost them lots of money so they fix the problem. Nothing new here.
