I know there are alot of mixed feelings about OW and Blizzard in general…but I was curious if anyone in this community likes/played OW? I played alot of 1 starting in season 3 and ending in season 16…and have seen nothing but hate for 2. I made a video discussing my experience with the beta and the new direction with OW. With a new team, i think there is a chance that OW2 could actually be good. And if you wanna play 2 on release LMK! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVxGwqzRMjk&ab_channel=KennyKanthak

While I love the characters and art style, I hated Overwatch. I am NOT a competitive multiplayer person, at all. In fact, I don’t like competition. I always find it sad that these multiplayer games are so popular now days when many of them have such cool visuals but are only multiplayer.

I have read that Overwatch 2 will have single player. That peaked some interest from me. But, then I watched the dev stream and they said it would come later. So, I’ll see what happens.

Totally Understandable! I know the Competitive scene isn’t for everyone, but out of a lot of the competitive games, OW seems to have the most support with it. I really wanted to get into Halo Infinite…but 343 clearly doesn’t care about it’s game and player base. Still no collision added, making it so melee/energy swords miss often which is very frustrating. League is a cess pool and is having some…”interesting” direction with the company right now. Not really into battle royals because personally they get a little stale…

I really hope the story mode for OW 2 is really fun! It’s hard to judge since we’ve have had very little footage of it…but i think with the new team there’s a chance

I like games such as this.  I used to love to play Heroes of the Storm for example.  But that overly competitive nonsense keeps me away.  I like more casual stuff which is why my go to for years has been Planetside 2 even as old as it is at this point.

I played Overwatch in it’s earlier days, as I wanted an FPS to play, and some of the characters looked cool. It was fun for a while, but I ultimately only got about 80 hours into it. Ended up moving on to Team Fortress 2, which I just liked more overall, and didn’t have as much issues (or at least not as severe)
as Overwatch. I get that the game emphasizes teamwork, but the way it’s designed overall has such an all or nothing nature, even in casual. At the tail end of my interest of the game, I could only really play it with friends while we were in the same room so strategizing could be more guaranteed. Even then, I grew to find the experience boring or frustrating too often.

The game does have some nice characters that can be fun to play. I liked playing as Tracer the most, along with Reinhardt, D.Va, Reaper, Zenyatta, etc. At the same time though, I remember there being a lot of annoying things about them.

-Junkrat in particular was my most hated hero to fight back then, both for the bear trap, and the Riptire ult (oh god, that tire…).

-Shields users themselves started out nice, though I think they began to grow really annoying later on in the games life from how ubiquitous they became.

-Symmetra was horrendous to fight because her primary required no aim. She just needed to look in your direction, and your health gets deleted. Why? At least they did rework it, but then they gave that to Moira too.

-Mei was frustrating too. Get slowed down until you’re frozen in place, then you just die from a icicle headshot. Fun…

So… yeah, this was kind of just rambling. Since Overwatch 2 was mentioned here, the idea of having a single player story sounds nice. The franchise had a neat setting, but they didn’t seem to do too much with it aside from some seasonal events and comics. By this point though, I’ve just grown indifferent towards the franchise as a whole, so it’s highly unlikely I will get Overwatch 2.

A buddy showed me planet side! It has some serious potential! The fact you are able to have such large teams and literally have everything go off at one time is sweet! just needs some adjustments to the servers. A ton of fun none the less

I just read that you will be forced to play the multiplayer content to unlock most the characters. 100 matches to unlock all the characters. So, if that is the case, I won’t be trying this. I thought they were going to be a bit more focused on the PVE content they said was coming, so I guess we’ll see how that works and is implemented. But, if I have to play the competitive multiplayer in order to unlock things for use in the PVE content, then I won’t be playing or even download the game. They pulled that crap in Destiny 2, and part of why I quit playing it.

So from my understanding, they are locking a lot of the older heroes from new players because when you first load the game, you have 35 different characters with different abilities, which can get a lot of people into analysis paralysis. (“IDK WHO TO PLAYYY”) So you’ll start with 5, and work your way up from there. As well as you are playing with people in the same player pool with the same amount of unlocked characters. This should improve the matchmaking as well as help new people getting started.

Now if you already had bought 1/played competitive, a lot of this won’t effect you. It’s only for new accounts made for OW2. As far as unlocking characters, I’m not sure where the gripe is…League, Valorant, Apex, ECT all make you either buy, or play the game to unlock them. Maybe it’s a big deal since OW 1 had everyone unlocked from the start. But OW needs to have some incentive for people to buy the pass.

Now I do agree with your last sentence on if they limit PVE content behind the battlepass/multiplayer, that’s fucked. But we’ll have to see what they do!

All in all I’m gonna give it a shot and make videos on it. Good or bad I wanna represent the game from an honest gamer’s perspective
