[I debated whether to put this in my personal Blog, but I would like feedback from anyone who can answer my questions or provide advice, and I don’t like not being able to edit or delete our blogs. I’m going to break this up over multiple posts to avoid a wall of text.]

I am a relatively new Twitter user, having only had my Twitter account for about a month. I personally have had no problems on Twitter (which might or might not have anything to do with the fact that I behave on Twitter). However, based on recommendations from a few other G+G members, I decided to check out a Twitter alternative called Parler.

I created a Parler account a few minutes ago, and I’ve encountered a couple issues already.

      1. First, Phone Number is currently a required field when creating a Parler account. I never gave Twitter any phone number; I didn’t need to, because Twitter never required one. I refuse to give any social media site my phone number or home address. To create an account for Parler, I had to provide a fake one. After practicing my log out/log in I noticed every time I log in, I am asked for the phone number, and I’m not sure exactly why. Yes it is fake, but does it know? I can “skip” the request, but then I’m presented with a “captcha” — Every. Single. Time. This is going to be a problem, a potential deal breaker. +1 Twitter
      2. Second, I can find no way to modify my email address in Parler account settings. Do I have to contact customer service every time I want to change the email address on my Parler account? I am able to modify my own email address myself on Twitter. I actually did submit that question to Parler support. +1 Twitter
      3. Third, I skipped all “Follow” suggestions when signing in for the first time, yet my Notifications instantly listed messages from a few people I didn’t recognize plus one I did – Rand Paul. The message was worded as though he was speaking to me directly, but of course it was automated. I didn’t “follow” these people, so why is Parler putting their messages in my “Feed”; why are their messages worded so that it seems they are really talking to me; and how often does this happen? It’s kinda creepy. I was able to remove each message one by one. Maybe this is just a one-time “welcome” feature? Benefit of the doubt – no score.

        …Continued.

        1. I experienced a lot of lag typing in the Parler search box, because it tries to search before I stop typing. Twitter waits until I’ve stopped typing. +1 Twitter
        2. Parler has both UP-voting and DOWN-voting. Based on my previous obvservations in discussion boards having both….. +1 Twitter
        3. An ad counter I use reports several ads on the Parler site, but none for Twitter or Geeks+Gamers.com. +1 Twitter
        4. I created a reply to a post on the “Parlor Support” account (the profile of the account invited users to do this). Back to my profile, “1 Comment” was displayed – good. But viewing the reply from my profile, it is impossible to determine to whom the comment/reply was directed. (Twitter displays “Replying to…”) Double-clicking the reply did nothing. +1 Twitter
        5. Very buggy. After I deleted a test comment, a box popped up with these words: “Success! Comment created.” I tried again, same thing. Eventually I had to leave because the site became completely unresponsive. My profile showed “2 following”, but clicking on that showed an empty list. Typing in the search bar started showing 0 results, no matter what I typed. I decided to log out and log back in, and…then the log in box just sat frozen. A few minutes later, it became responsive again. +1 Twitter

        Current Running Score:

        Parler – 0

        Twitter – 7

My current consensus: I do not like Parler. I probably won’t keep my account there, but I’ll wait a few days before deciding.

          NO WAY.  +1 Twitter

          Current Running Score:

          Parler – 0

My current consensus: I do not like Parler. I’m about to quit using it, see no option to delete/deactivate it.

I’ve been trying to reach Parler customer support for some issues I’ve been having for a couple days now.  No response.  I did however notice something,  The @ParlerSupport account has a “Tip” jar, and apparently the more one “Tips”, the more “Influence” one receives.  Is this why Parler Customer Support hasn’t responded to me?  Because I haven’t given them a “Tip”?  As far as I know, Twitter Support doesn’t ask for tips+1 Twitter

            Current Running Score:

            Parler – 0

            Twitter – 9

My current consensus: Twitter is fine.  I can’t say anything nice about Parler right now.

P.S.  Deleting a comment still generates a pop-up that says “Success!! Comment Created!”

              Wow.

Anything that is going to ask for that much personal information IMO is very sketchy.

Reason why I refuse to use Facebook.  Not going to do it.  Then again this could be because of my age and the different world I grew up in.

I tried to make a “fake” real profile for my friends and family so I could chat with them.  It worked for a few months, then they asked for private information.

              So I left.

It is not like I have anything to hide either.  I just don’t want my personal information out here.  So me joining this site was kind of a leap for me, as I had to enter some information I am not normally comfortable with on here.  Why did I do it?  Because I trust Jeremy personally.  My faith is in him and what he is doing here. I don’t have that with other sites or places.

However I don’t know these other site owners.

So that is part of my thoughts for you here WuBeeBee.

I am going to work on writing something more up for you here, as right now just writing off the top of my head.  As I think you have a pretty good idea of my thoughts on Twitter already.  We have had some interaction on here so far.

I don’t like to tell people what they should and shouldn’t do.  But when asked my thoughts I am more than happy to give them.

As people are different.  Some are more laid back than others.  Some of us are fighters, others are much more passive.

Another reason why I refuse to use Twitter is because they allow pedophiles to share photos of children.  Yet my opinion is not welcome there.

Please remove -5 points for Twitter allowing pedophiles to thrive on their site.

I have a kid so this bothers me.  Yet I would think it would bother any sane person children or not.

If you don’t have a dog in this fight then Twitter might be okay.  If you do, then your opinion will not be allowed if you stand on the wrong side of what ever their non sense dictates that day.

Lots of you seem to be able to do Twitter just fine.   I might not be the best person to be giving advice on this topic.   I can admit that much.  But damn, any place that allows that kind of sickness should not be tolerated by a civil society.

These are some straight up NAMBLA members too.  Not being dramatic over that.

If you talk about it on You Tube or other plat forms you are done.  I am censored at every turn when I talk about this issue.

Which is a whole other thread in itself.  One that I happen to get to fired up over and say something that everyone else is thinking.

I will look for Twitter’s policy on pedophiles; surely you aren’t the only one who’s noticed.  I haven’t encountered anything like that, thank goodness.  I do expect Twitter to have some sort of policy against it.  If they don’t, then I suppose that would be a good reason to leave.

Either way, I will not be using Parler.  IMO, Parler is suspect at best, possibly corrupt.

Some of those answers can be found in the FAQ for the site: https://home.parler.com/category/faq/

I have been using it since yesterday. I have already gotten verified and have my red badge. I have my Driver’s License info locked in the state database so any requests require proof in person and can’t be accessed via digital means which is why I’m not worried about it personally.  As for the lagging issue I have not experienced that and have actually been surprised at how responsive it was and love how it gives you a preview while you’re typing so you can check it before you post.

As for the influencer section and the money transaction portion of the site, that is only necessary if you are going to use your account in order to represent Parler or promote an organization. It is a way for you to get paid for your work directly by driving people to join the site. Essentially though you can completely ignore this part of the site if you have no interest in doing any of this.

The three initial parley’s (the equivalent term to twitter’s tweets) are only sent in order to help you get around the site. One from the site welcoming you, another from the CSR and the last from a random celebrity account (mine was Ron Paul). You can delete them and never worry about them ever again if you wish.

The phone number requirement is a bot prevention measure. AS for changing the email account. I don’t think there is a way to do that without contacting support. I can change my display name and real name though through the account settings (click the gear icon on the dashboard and go to Edit Profile)

Overall I think it’s obvious it’s still trying to find it’s footing, however I find there are a lot of things about it that I do like better than Twitter, especially the 1k character count for posts!

Here is screen shot.  They call themselves MAP’s

                  MAPS

                  Minor Attracted People

Just another word play for them to use loop holes to not say pedo.

No I am not the only one who has noticed this.  I am sure more folks on here can back me up.

If you want to get sick to your stomach, take a deep dive into that rabbit hole.

I did everything in my power to stay out of there.  A: I don’t want any of that kind of vile shit on my computer.

B: They are being very under handed about it as they do not enforce the rules properly from what I have heard.

While TOS does claim no you can’t post out right CP.. Well no shit.  Yet they allow a person to post a drawing a naked little girl or boy.  Just they can’t be getting fucked.  WTF?  No naked child drawn or real should be on there.  So yes, they don’t allow real photos of children.  But drawn photos or “artwork” is okay.

Right in the fucking RULES!   People wonder why I hate Twitter so much.  And we can’t talk about it on major platforms because this world is sick WuBeeBee.

And run by these people.  Alas, some think it is only a conspiracy theory.  But the proof is right here.  Some will claim Artwork of naked kids isn’t CP.  It is when you have a bunch of creeps perving on them.

A photo of my kid lets say taking a bath is nothing sexual.  Yet the creeps on that place would make it sexual, claiming out the other side of the mouth its not.

                  They are lying.

But still shouldn’t be allowed to talk about being attracted to a child.  Yet they say nothing sexual.. But can be attracted.  That is double speak.

What makes matters worse is I can’t claim the fact there are 2 genders.  That is a big no no on Twitter.

But you can do MAP speak.  Code for pedophiles.

OK, so that says people can admit they are attracted to minors as long as they don’t glorify or promote it, and nude photos of children are permitted by internationally renowned artists (I assume journalistic photos of starving children in Africa would apply here too).

Alright.  I see the line they are dancing on.  It is very thin.

Whatever I decide, I’m glad you informed me of this, Oldie_Wan.

No,  I don’t dive into rabbit holes. ;)

It is against Twitter policy to say there are only two biological genders?  Seriously?
