Here’s the thing; I’m never in a rush to pick up a new console because the games for it are going to take a while to develop. That’s just the nature of the beast. There are always more games on the middle to back end of a console, than at the front of the cycle. You never buy a console for games at launch, you buy it for the games about 2-3 years AFTER the launch. This idea of “they should have all these games ready to go” that you hear many espouse is really misguided.
Now granted, if my PS4 kicks I’ll probably buy a PS5 when I get the opportunity since it’s backwards compatible with PS4 games. That’s an added benefit. But as strictly a machine to play PS5 games, I’d be in no hurry just yet. At least not until there’s an adequate supply, and I don’t have to wrestle one from the arms of some suburban mom at Target.
