So I finally bought a 4K TV a little over a month ago and while I’m not in a rush to get a PS5, I’m curious what people think of the PS5 and if it’s worth it at this point. Also, beyond the graphics is the system innovative beyond the locking buttons?

For me, so far the big difference is the noise, the PS5 is much more silent than the PS4. And most games run really smoother (fifa, nba, rdr2, ghost of tsushima).

Other than that, for now it’s just an investment for future games.

Until it has more than Demon Souls to offer and fixes the drift issues, I dont see the point of getting it.

Here’s the thing; I’m never in a rush to pick up a new console because the games for it are going to take a while to develop. That’s just the nature of the beast. There are always more games on the middle to back end of a console, than at the front of the cycle. You never buy a console for games at launch, you buy it for the games about 2-3 years AFTER the launch. This idea of “they should have all these games ready to go” that you hear many espouse is really misguided.

Now granted, if my PS4 kicks I’ll probably buy a PS5 when I get the opportunity since it’s backwards compatible with PS4 games. That’s an added benefit. But as strictly a machine to play PS5 games, I’d be in no hurry just yet. At least not until there’s an adequate supply, and I don’t have to wrestle one from the arms of some suburban mom at Target.

I only bought my PS4 2.5 years ago. Im in no rush to get the 5. Maybe when the 5 gets droped in price into the curent PS4 pricing Ill look into it.

I got one for myself and then had to get two more for my son’s for Christmas. I like this system quite a bit. It just sucks that right now there’s not really any games that are really taking advantage of it’s hardware. That damn virus has really fucked up a lot of shit and the gaming industry has pretty much been limping a long for a year now. It’s particularly frustrating that 99% of the PS5 games are just upgrades of PS4 games.

Long story short. IF you haven’t scored one yet then don’t feel to bad. Right now you’re not really missing out on anything. I will say however that I do prefer the PS5’s controllers over the PS4. They feel more solid and have some “weight” to them where as the when I go use the PS4 controllers I almost feel like I’m picking up one of those knock off cheapy 3rd party controllers from Walmart. Plus, the haptic feedback is very impressive. I just can’t wait to see what they end up doing with these features in the future.

As it stands this moment, I have no desire for a PS5. None. Soyny may have lost me as a customer. I am undecided on that. But there isn’t a single game on or announced for PS5 I wanna play. Except MAYBE God of War but I have no urge for it.
