To start off go with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 are quite dated. They’ve easily been improved upon by later installments.

Mario Kart Wii is a fine game, but IMO Mario Kart 8 is better.

Mario Kart Double Dash is definitely worth checking out for its unique mechanic (two drivers per kart). So if whoever you’re introducing to the franchise enjoys MK8 show them MKDD as well.

I started with Wii and DS, but any of them are a great place to start, as long as you have the system.

Either Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Mario Kart Wii. I think they’re the easiest to pick up and play for the first time
