Just as with Drivers Licenses (a non-constitutional item) Many States also have reciprocity laws and agreements with Weapons Permit Holders and Constitutional States allow all able to. So the argument is there based off just that alone.
I have carried Concealed for 30+ years, I have NEVER had to pull the weapon in that time on a person. Most people including Police will never have to pull it. And when asked why I do by people trying to understand it, i put it this way.
You have a Spare tire in your car, a first aid kit, jumper cables right? Well you may never need those things, you better have them for safety. A gun is no different, I may never need it, but if the day comes I do having it can mean the difference between life or death for me or someone else whose life is in danger.
