This limited series (6 issues) was the winner of the DC Round Robin, where several titles were offered and the winning title gets printed.  (NO idea what happens to the losers).

The five heroes to have donned the Robin cape and mask find themselves at a crossroads in their lives. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne come together to discuss the big thing that binds them together: Was being Robin, and Batmans sidekick, the best choice they could’ve made?

The series is about all the people who have dawned the mantle of Robin, and the “Gauntlet” – how Batman decided if you got to become a Robin or not.

And it turns out that after 80 years, we are finding out Dick Grayson might NOT be the original Robin and someone before him not only a Robin but was the one who gave the name.

In Issues #3, we have Nightwing yelling at Batman, and this sums up this woke BS that is infecting comics:

“Why we were all together!  All the Robins in one place!

I’ll tell you Bruce!  We wanted to talk about something we’d been putting off… like friends do.  Like a family.

We wanted to know if, after everything we’d all been through, after everything we’d learned…

…if we thought being a partner to Batman was a worthy experiment.  If being a Robin was a Good Thing.

At that cemetery, we learned the answer Bruce.  No.  It wasn’t.

We then have a panel of Batman sad and distraught face.

Yet another attack of the Father figure, IMO.

Oh, and in case you also have not heard…  the pre-Greyson Robin was a she, Jenny Wren.

Just seeing her, I can se them making it tie-in with The Joker, and how the Joker knew Bruce Wayne is Batman, has been in the Batcave before, etc. and it is via this Jenny that it happened.

And much like The Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) later, she too failed because of her criminal father’s (Cluemaster aka Arthur Brown) influence on her.

    Anyone else reading this?

What is your take on the series?

Potentially interesting concept, but retconning like that is a very bad sign.

Is this the first ever hint of a pre-Grayson Robin? Was there possibly some mention of her in some obscure story arc from decades ago?

It’s not really new, the idea that the Robins have not always been happy with how Bruce/Batman treated them. I’d be curious about how that conflict plays out at the end of this story. Just not sure I’m curious enough to want to read it for myself. DC seems like a dumpster fire that needs to either make big changes, or just allow it to burn until there may possibly be something left worth keeping around.

I have been collection Detective/Batman comics since the mid 70’s.

And no, Dick Greyson was ALWAYS the first Robin.

    And if you do over to DC fandom you get;

    Jenny Wren (Prime Earth)/Appearances

This is her FIRST appearance in DC.

They pulled a Doctor Who on Robin. 80 years of canon right out the window. Why? So the pathetic child that wrote this can feel good about themselves.
