The Southeastern Conference is known as the best conference in college football. Will they win the national championship this year? Who will be in the SEC championship this year? What are your favorite games in the Southeastern Conference this year? In this forum, we can talk all things about college football within the Southeastern Conference. Let us know who your favorite team is and what are your expectations for the 2020 season.

Now THIS is the content I’m here for. Just by looking you’ll all see I’m a Georgia fan (and alum).

That being said, I think Alabama will once again win the conference and meet Clemson in the National Title Game. I don’t think anyone gives Alabama a true test in the West. LSU will fall back to earth and Auburn may not be quite there yet (but watch out for a potential huge season for Bo Nix). Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas & Mississippi State will all be average-to-good, with TA&M having the most potential of that group.

The East is far more interesting. The media-driven annual Florida nut-hugging is in full force this summer and the division will come down to my Dawgs and the Gators. And I’m taking Georgia, regardless of it being my team. Tennessee will be “most improved” (despite being a respectable 8-4 last year) and Kentucky will stay static. Missouri, South Carolina and Vanderbilt probably stay in the cellar.

Georgia meets Alabama in the SECCG and the Tide wins again, most likely. But I sure hope I’m wrong there.

    Predictions:

Game of the Year: Georgia @ Alabama

    Most Important Game: Georgia-Florida

    Most Improved Team: Auburn

    Biggest Fall: LSU

Coach of the Year: Nick Saban

    League MVP: RB Najee Harris

Offensive Player of the Year: QB Kyle Trask

Defensive Player of the Year: CB Derek Stingley

Freshman of the Year: TE Arik Gilbert

    Final Standings Prediction:

East: Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt

West: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas

Top 10 games I’m personally most excited for:

    1. Georgia-Florida

    2. Georgia @ Alabama

    3. Auburn @ Georgia

    4. Tennessee @ Georgia

    5. Georgia-Virginia (Atlanta)

    6. Georgia @ Kentucky

    7. Texas @ LSU

    8. Florida @ Tennessee

    9. Alabama @ LSU

    10. LSU @ Florida

Hello TheVinoJedi, thank you for your reply. I am surprise that this forum has not gain enough attraction but I appreciate your honest opinions and insights. I agree with you that Alabama will make a comeback this year in the West because the only competition that I can see in the SEC West is Auburn, Texas A & M, and LSU (maybe). In the SEC East, I appreciate you supporting your team – Georgia. However, I think this is a make-or-break year for Dan Mullen and Florida. If Florida does not win the SEC East this year then when will Florida win it. I like Georgia’s defense a lot, but their offense last year was bad in the second half of the season. Plus having to replace four offensive lineman, a quarterback, and a new offensive scheme. If Georgia had a full spring practice and I was able to see their spring game maybe I would change my mind. As of now, I got Florida versus Alabama in the SEC championship. I think that the teams that could challenge Florida are Georgia and Tennessee. If Georgia’s offense is better then last year then they will definitely be there. I would also say the same thing for Tennessee depending on their quarterback situation. I am not a Florida fan, but I am trying to think objectively instead of subjectively. Nevertheless, I wish your Georgia Bulldogs the best. Next year is the year that I believe Kirby Smart will win the college football national championship. As of this year, I think that Alabama wins the SEC and Clemson wins the national championship this year.

I agree, it is a make or break year for Mullen, but I think he will get the job done.  He finally has a consistent QB and a great receiving, solid D, and hopefully a decent run game.

Hello willofthesith, thank you for your reply. At this point in time, if Florida does not win the SEC East this year then I believe that Georgia and Tennessee will not allow Florida to the SEC East until at least 2022 at the earliest or 2024 at the latest. I think that Georgia does have a bright future for their program but this year is a transition year for them with so many unknowns on the roster and coaching staff.

The only ones that think that the SEC is the best conference are ESPN homers and the SEC bumpkins lol.

Hello Megatron, thank you for your reply. However, I have to disagree with your opinion. Due to the fact that LSU won the national championship this year and Alabama has won the national championship multiple years. Good luck to you though.

I am a UGA alum as well and our university sold out today.  Makes me sick.

I hear that, man! Thanks for the awesome, in-depth reply. Florida is indeed going to be a tough game for Georgia. If we had to lose @ Alabama or vs Florida… I’ll drop the Bama game 100% of the time to beat UF. But until I see Dan Mullen beat Kirby Smart… I won’t bet against my Dawgs! Who’s your team? I’d love to know!

I also appreciate you thinking the Dawgs get the job done in 2021 – I SO hope you’re right!

Wait a minute – what did we do? How did I miss something?

I’m a UGA alum as well! GO DAWGS! What year did you graduate?

Hello again, TheVinoJedi, I appreciate the reply. I am a Tennessee Volunteers fan. I have been a fan of them for about eleven years now since 2009. I know that Georgia and Florida are both better teams than my team right now in the SEC East but I hope that my team at least returns back into the Top 25 this year with an 8-4 record in 2020. Unlike most Tennessee fans, I do not believe that Tennessee can go to the national championship every year. Instead, I like to look at how each team develops to get from where they were last year to where they could possibly be this year. So, I guess I am called a “reasonable” Tennessee fan within the Tennessee fanbase.

I am also a SEC homer. I watch every SEC team on Saturday and cheer for the SEC team when they play outside of the conference. In other words, the nonconference schedule. When it comes to SEC team vs SEC team, I am for the underdog most of the time, unless it is Tennessee. I enjoy watching Georgia football and I do hope that they beat Alabama and Florida this year. I believe that Georgia will beat Tennessee pretty bad this year because your team’s talent is superior to ours. I also cannot wait to get rid of Jarrett Guarantano as our quarterback so that we can get a new quarterback because he was bad last year. There was no excuses for losing to Georgia State and BYU last year. Another interesting fact about me is that my favorite college football YouTuber is a Georgia fan named Uncle Lou. I enjoy his commentary on college football and his reactions to college football games during the season. I appreciate your opinions and insights and hope that you do not think different of me because of the Tennessee fanbase.

Okay bitches, you can bow down to your Tiger masters right the hell now. (Yes, I know our best chances to repeat went to the Cinci Bengals and the thice damned Carolina Panthers (Who Dat 4 life,) but damn it all, Imma lap up all the respect I can before my Tigers come back to earth.

      #169608

You and I think very, very similarly! I too am an SEC homer – out of conference and bowl games I cheer for the SEC no matter who they are. I think Tennessee’s arrow is pointing straight up… they’re going to upset someone this year. I just hope it’s Florida and not my Dawgs!

We’ll need to remember to talk some pregame the week of our game!!!

      #171188

Hello TheVinoJedi, thank you for getting back with me. Being an SEC homer is great because most of the time our teams win against inferior Power 5 (and or Group of 5) conferences. I also hope that Tennessee can pull an upset this year. Out of the four ranked opponents that Tennessee will have on their schedule, I take Alabama and Georgia out as automatic losses. The games that could go either way are Oklahoma and Florida. Oklahoma lost their quarterback, one of their two running backs, their best wide receiver, and their middle linebacker. I still think that Oklahoma and Florida will win, but it still should be great games. I will remember to talk pregame for that week of our game.
