I think Sonic 2 is gonna be good cause from what I can see in the trailers for this film everything looks great, my only compliant is Idris Elba as Knuckles. No offense to Idris Elba but his voice coming out of a furry cartoon character seems weird to me.
Idris’ voice is too deep and serious sounding for Knuckles who is supposed to be a cartoony character that is supposed to sound like a kid character like Sonic does but more serious and not too serious.
I can understand Ryan Reynolds for Detective Pikachu but Ryan doesn’t really have a deep voice and his voice lends perfectly for a cartoon character but Idris’ voice sounds better for a cartoon character that is more serious like something in a Bruce Timm DC Animated movie. To me it sounds weird to have Knuckles who is like 4 ft tall, is furry looking and looks like a sort of stuffed animal to have Idris’ voice when he speaks.
I bet Idris Elba himself would be freaked out if Knuckles somehow became real and spoke with Idris’ deep voice. Idris would freak out so much he’d go crazy and claim some furry cartoon character was trying to kill him…..now that sounds like a good idea for a horror comedy starring Idris Elba.
