Splash Mountain is officially dead. Why even call it Splash Mountain if its not? Why not just build a separate rides??!?!?!

No it isn’t. It’s just being re-themed: “Princess and the Frog”

I don’t really care, especially since it’s not truly “gone”.

I care more about the destruction and removal of historical monuments. Those are truly gone.

Just another experience being robbed and taken from our youth. Anyone who goes to these parks will not be able to have the same experience we had in these places growing up. Now I could understand if these rides had out right racist ideas and themes but they don’t.

These companies are kneeling and bowing to the mob. This is never a good thing. Never has been throughout our history either.

Utter nonsense. This is just the first step. Now that they can get this far next step is to take away the rides they don’t like all together. Watch and see how the tip toe works.

I would have to agree that the destruction of historical monuments is far more important than the re-theming an amusement ride, though given the current climate I can understand why some people here are reacting the way they are.

I’m just surprised this didn’t happen sooner. Accusations of racism towards “Song of the South” have been around for a long time, they just never gained any real traction (even before the rise of the internet mob). Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall any kind of recent demand to change Splash Mountain; this seems like Disney is being pre-emptive.

This is utterly my point when I said it is completely gone, and saying it is “rethemed” to me is the same thing as saying it is gone because The Princess and the Frog is not what Splash Mountain originally was, so I’m not going to accept it as Splash Mountain if it doesn’t have it’s original theme.

I agree. Virtue signaling is the latest marketing / self-promotion strategy, better publicity than advertising.

They want the crowds back.

I don’t believe they’ll ever fully recover, and frankly, I hope Disney takes it in the balls forever.

I know that there is a contingent of our community here that is big on parks. Hell, from 6-16 I went to ALL the big parks in FL multiple times (my ex-step dad’s family had land in Central FL, so I was there every summer for 10 years). One of the greatest times I ever had was when I was 15 and had a buddy with school visiting. We went to the Magic Kingdom on a day a major rain storm blew through…it was epic because the entire park emptied out! No lines! We went on Space Mountain something like 10 times in a row in like two hours, and repeated that feat across the entire park on multiple rides, probably Splash Mountain, too.

My point is, I have great memories if the theme parks, but they are just that…memories, because I know it’s not the same anymore. Probably hasn’t been for years and years. It might be unpopular for me to say this in some circles here, but I wish nothing but ill will on the parks because of what Disney now represents in the world. It’s not a place or company of good fun and entertainment anymore. It’s a gargantuan titan that is eating up all entertainment and ruining it in the process all for the sake of profit….and I say that as a capitalist. There is a reason monopolies are bad, and Disney a current day example of it.

So as I say in many of my posts where Disney comes up…

Fuck you, Disney.
