Star Trek: Picard Season 3…Is this what fans have been hoping for?

It seems promising, but how many times have we heard that before?  I’ve recently re-watched TOS and I’m about midway though Season 5 of TNG. Honestly after working to sanitize my mind of these modern abominations I really don’t want to risk reinfection.

Still, Meyer-Burnett is of the old school and if he says it’s good then his word should carry some weight. Gotta admit, I’m tempted..

It’s nostalgia that is pulling you in but there intent is to intentionally ruin what was so I don’t understand your hope.

In the case of Picard S3 I think we are getting something different. People from 12 Monkies TV show are heavily involved in this season that weren’t in the previous seasons. A completely different show runner this time as well. Kurtzman essentially wasn’t involved at all.

For those who enjoy Robert Meyer Brunette then you should watch his explanation of the season and that he nearly guarantee’s people will like it. He hated, despised, season one and two (so did I). I give him credit and a listen because he has been involved in Star Trek and has been a trekkie since the OG time.

That’s like touching the fire for the 3rd time because it promises the flames won’t burn you again.

The spoilers are out there if you know where to look.  Callbacks and nostalgia bait reach the level of The Force Awakens.  Fascinatingly, Trek and Wars have both damaged their play narratives in the exact same way; if people like the season for the returning cast, the viewer is left bereft of enjoyment for the illusion of its universe, making the production of subsequent content increasingly insurmountable without a full reboot.

It has also been interesting to watch so many critics go all in and stake their entire credibility on this series.  House of the Dragon had its first six episodes sent out, yet each week was taken with extreme caution.

I think it might be a case of given such bad shows for so long that when something comes along that does not completely insult your intelligence it’s called good where 5 years or more ago it would be called garbage.

So maybe, just maybe, beyond all hope hell has frozen over and this might be good?

Dave Cullen has said he has seen all the episodes and while he was bound to not give out any details he did say fans would be VERY happy for once and that we will find it beyond enjoyable.

@Vknid : It’s a different crew making Season 3, Kurtzman went away and wasn’t really apart of it. As I said, “In the case of Picard S3 I think we are getting something different”. The sad thing is if it is good we will get the Andor situation again. People burned out from the crap before it, something good comes out but people are not even giving it a chance or ignoring it all together because they are tired of being disappointed. I loved Andor, as did people at my work, but we all said the same thing I said above. People are just sick of the Lucasfilm K Kennedy disappointment. (probably more to come with Indiana Jones geriatric movie)

Folks, just don’t be like Doomcock and be childish and rant and deny before something is even out and you haven’t even watched. It’s part of why I quit watching Doomcock.

Agreed @DarthVengeant.  I was all against this S3 thinking there was no way in hell it could be anything but trash.  And it seems I was very wrong and that it’s actually really good.  I plan on watching S3 standalone.  I will ignore the S1 and S2.

I think this may very well be TFM’s AICN Godzilla moment.

If the series falls short of the adoration being delivered in lock-step by the most significant members of the community, the only conclusion that can be reached is that these members somehow received gifts for favorable reviews instead of merely acting out of bad taste. I suspect claims will be made in the coming weeks as to how this season is not “woke”, as if the lack of one specific ingredient suddenly means the seasonal trash dump that audiences have received from Paramount over the past five years is suddenly exquisite.

No matter how many nostalgia buttons they push, all roads inevitably lead to President Stacey Abrams.

I JUST watched episode 1. And I am going to say WOW! As I said in an earlier post, a completely different show. If you are a fan of the first 6 ST movies and the TNG show, you are going to love this. As Robert Meyer Burnett said, I was hooked within 10 min. This is the ST I have been wanting for years. The humor is spot on for characters as well. There was a surprise reveal in the last 5 min of the episode too that I did NOT see coming. I wont spoil it.

The sad thing is, now I have to wait another week to see more.

I signed up for Paramount just for this.  Looking forward to it.
