As a big Stephen King fan I thought this forum would benefit from discussion of his works. I have read almost all of his published fiction and own all of his books (except for Danse Macabre and Faithful). There are many favorites of mine but real quick for those wanting to get into King I recommend: Misery, Pet Sematary, The Stand, IT, Salem’s Lot, The Shining, 11/22/63, Different Seasons, The Dark Tower series, Skeleton Crew, The Institute, The Green Mile, and The Long Walk. That’s just for starters and I rank them as some of his very best IMO. How about you guys? Any Sai King books you feel like talking about?

Stephen King’s The Shining was a pretty big inspiration for me when writing physiological horror.

But that was after my dad gave me his copy of Christine and was one of the first real books I ever read at a young age.  He knew I would like it because my father was a grease monkey and we had lots of cars and trucks on the property.  We would spend hours each day working on the cars.  So not only was the work we did a bonding experience but also at the end of the day he would encourage reading before bed time.  (Yeah my mom smacked him for letting a 9 year old read a horror book before bed, but I loved it and only gave me minor nightmares)

Kings books really helped me forge an imagion that would allow me to read and see it in my head as clear as I was watching a movie or TV show.

I do my best to disconnect his art from the person he has shown himself to be today.
