I am sure you guys now know about a US bank failing named Silicon Valley Bank.  Well that bank supports just what it’s name is.  Lot’s of startups are already talking about bailouts.

I suspect California (who shut the bank themselves and not the Feds) will come hat in hand to Congress and state that they need a bailout.  Watch and see.

They’ll find a way to pay the (mis)managers and execs of both the bank and clients. It’s those lower down in the food chain that always suffer.

“It’s those lower down in the food chain that always suffer.”

Absolutely.  Just like in 2008 the people who steered that ship made out like bandits while everyone else paid the price and still are.

The Treasury Department designated both SVB and Signature as systemic risks, giving it authority to unwind both institutions in a way that it said “fully protects all depositors.” The FDIC’s deposit insurance fund will be used to cover depositors, many of whom were uninsured due to the $250,000 cap on guaranteed deposits.

The scenario harkened back to the Sept. 15, 2008 collapse of investment banking giant Lehman Brothers, which also found itself insolvent and in search of a buyer. The government also was unsuccessful in that case following a weekend of wrangling, triggering the worst of the Global Financial Crisis.

Hopefully, it will not come to that.

But TWO banks so close to each other?

“Even amounts not insured by the FDIC will be available. ”

Depositors better thank their lucky stars…
