So…
What’s the consensus on this?
Virginia wrote a review here.
No word from Roas yet. I do agree with his other comments about what is Star Wars and what isn’t. How Disney seems to almost refuse to give fans some key characters from the books that would have been nice to see.
Anna did reviews by episode and story. She watched the first three episodes.
The animation is good. Not sure about the story-telling. Definitely agree with Virginia that the episode with Dooku and Yaddle was the best one. I like that there is a pause period between animation releases because you can see the growth with each generation of chips, or whatever is going on, as the visuals get better.
My review is: 100000 out of 10. Absolute top tier Star Wars. This is the kind of stuff I have been wanting more of since Disney took over. Not s single thing wrong with it other than it didn’t have more. Imo Dave Filoni needs to take over.
Ep4 was probably the biggest gut punch with the most feels. QGJ dies and Mace Windu gets a promotion to the Council leaving Dooku out in the cold. Yaddle does care about Dooku though. I kind of liked this one because a rule of life is that talent must be poached and advanced and that leaves some out. I don’t know if that should be enough to lead to the dark side, but when things are stacked, you never know the result.
I enjoyed the potential of this animation. So many good short stories could be told. One thing Jeremy pointed out was how dependent they are on the Emperor being the big bad evil villain, when really, it should be the dark side of the force itself. One thing I like about Jedi and Sith is they have conviction. They are set in their ways. It’s only ones that have doubts about their path that have room to maybe swing from one to the other. Ana actually had a good idea for a short about a family that might not really want to have their baby become a Jedi, and have the council kind of rip ones strong in the force away from their people for training.
Potential Spoilers ahead.
Ya, Ep 4 was indeed a tear jerker. It also had a proper SW feel to it. Yaddle was trying to help an old friend who she was agreeing with and even left the council herself. It was sad and tragic yet so well told.
I personally am a HUGE Ahsoka fan, even though I am usually a dark sider…but I just freakin love Ahsoka, so I was giddy as a school boy with her episodes. She took out that inquisitor with barely any effort. I loved every second of her. They want to talk about strong independent women, well they have had one all along!!!
