Kansas Teacher Who Refused To Use Student’s Preferred Pronouns Awarded $95,000 In Suit

A Kansas school district will pay a former middle school teacher $95,000 to settle a lawsuit she filed after she was disciplined for refusing to use a student’s preferred pronouns, her attorneys announced Wednesday.

    What did this stem from?

Pamela Ricard, a former math teacher at Fort Riley Middle School, sued the Geary County School District in March after she was reprimanded and suspended for three days in the spring of 2021. She said the district’s policies on preferred pronouns violated her religious beliefs.

Their policies violated more than just that.

Teachers also were told to conceal a student’s preference by using legal names when addressing parents, if that was the student’s wish, according to the lawsuit.

“No school district should ever force teachers to willfully deceive parents or engage in any speech that violates their deeply held religious beliefs,” said Tyson Langhofer, the director of the Alliance Defending Freedom Center for Academic Freedom, which filed the lawsuit along with the Kriegshauser Ney Law Group.

Yay, don’t let the parents know what sort of indoctrinations is happening.

Ricard, who taught at the school since 2005, addressed a student as “miss” to avoid using the student’s preferred first name after Picard was told that the student used he/him pronouns.

Ricard believed addressing the student as “Miss (legal/enrolled last name)” respected the student while also upholding Ricard’s religious convictions, according to the lawsuit.

But to those woke school boards, that is not enough.

Ricard believes God assigns gender at birth and any policy requiring her to use language that is different from the student’s biological sex “actively violates Ms. Ricard’s religious beliefs,” the lawsuit says.

Submit completely to their ideology, even if you (and your religion) disagree.

A federal judge in May allowed Ricard’s lawsuit to proceed, saying she was likely to prevail on her free exercise of religion claim. The judge granted her motion to halt enforcement of the parental communication part of the policy and allowed her to continue addressing students by their preferred names while avoiding pronouns consistent with their preferences.

After that ruling, the school board voted to revoke the parental communications policy, according to Ricard’s attorneys.

So long as their are brave people out there, such regressive policies (parental communications) must be revoked at ever level.

Just think of how many woke school boards have such policies that will never see the light of day.  How many teachers (and their unions) now standing up for what is right.

We need more people like Ricard.

Ricard retired in May, in part because of the dispute and partly to be closer to her family in Oklahoma, her attorneys said. As part of the settlement, the district agreed to issue a statement that she was in good standing without any disciplinary actions against her.

I would also make sure her permanent record with the district ALSO shows that fact.  “good standing without any disciplinary actions against her”

What more privilege can someone have as to be in a position to be concerned about their pronouns?

Let some bad stuff really go down in this country.  Let gas be $10 a gallon or a loaf of bread $20 that you have to stand in line to get.

See if anyone cares about pronouns then.

Do the people in Afghanistan worry about pronouns?  NO!

Do the people in Ukraine worry about pronouns?  NO!

Do the people in Iran worry about pronouns? NO!

Do the people in Hong Kong/China worry about pronouns?  NO!

Do the people in Xinjiang/China worry about pronouns?  NO!

Only the mentally ill (who are living in a fantasy world) care about their pronouns and pretending to be something they are not (oh look, I am a CAT, or Unicorn – not human).

        YES! This is great.

I say f**k pronouns. If I have to have a dissertation about how to refer to someone, I wont be referring to them at all, and I’ll continue to be a hermit staying at home because the world is more and more full of lunatics everywhere I go.

And here we have another one!

Ohio teacher sues after she refuses to affirm students’ gender identity

An Ohio middle school teacher is suing her former district, school board and education officials, claiming she was forced to resign after she refused to use students’ preferred names and pronouns. The teacher, Vivian Geraghty, said her constitutionally protected religious beliefs prevented her from doing so.

When will these school boards stop this.

About a week after the students requested the changes (..to be referenced with pronouns inconsistent with the student’s sex..), the school’s counselor emailed Geraghty and several other teachers to ask them to do so, the lawsuit says.

But Geraghty refused, saying in the lawsuit that “according to her Christian faith,” “rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person,” and that going against that belief would be “immoral.” She also said in the lawsuit that acceptance of gender identity rather that is different from their biological sex is “harmful to the child because it is untrue.”

As the vast majority grow out of this phase, pushing this falsehood is indeed harmful.

A few days later, on August 26, she says she met with the school’s principal, Kacy Carter, and the district’s director of curriculum and instruction,  Monica Myers, in hopes of “reaching a solution” that would allow her to continue teaching without violating her beliefs. According to the suit, they told her that she was “required to put her beliefs aside as a public servant,” and Geraghty said she could not. That refusal amounted to insubordination, and they allegedly told her that she would have to resign.

Insubordination?  For not following the woke agenda and standing up for her rights?  They call that insubordination?

“I was asked to conform to students’ gender identities that opposed my religious beliefs. Unequivocally and unapologetically, I will not do so,” she says in the letter. “While some may say this is forcing my beliefs on others, I say this is standing up for the mission that every teacher should fight for.”

A teacher should always stand for truth and in education.  Not this indoctrination garbage the woke is forcing into schools.

The Jackson Local School District said last week that it “always will strive to provide a safe, comfortable environment for all of our nearly 6,000 students in which to learn.”

That sounds like they will also be allowing biological boys into girls washrooms, changerooms, and female sports.

Yet that statement also makes it clear that providing to strive for a safe, comfortable environment for their teachers is NOT something the school distinct once.

I do hope Vivian Geraghty wins, and wins BIG.

This discrimination against religion and religious belief has to end.  It has no place in the US (or any nation for that matter).
