The thing to ask yourself is not if the slap was real.

The thing to ask yourself is what actual news is being obfuscated because one elitist dingdong slapped another elitist dingdong.

A slap? What are you talking about??? I know next to nothing about fighting but that looked more like a punch from the vids I was seeing all over the place yesterday! I’d say that the most important thing is that that horrible remake of ‘West Side Story’ didn’t get the ‘Best Picture’ award. Also, I’d like to know why on Earth ‘No Way Home’ wasn’t nominated for ‘Best Picture’ when it practically saved their jobs and made more money than everything else nominated (sorry ‘Dune’, as much as I enjoyed you) !

the oscars are not about rewarding the best of each year anymore.

about the slap, Alan Ritchson, the actor who plays Jack Reacher, said it very well:

      hollywood is sick.

The best thing about the slap was that it erased all of the usual bullshit about the awards. The pandering and virtue signal rubbish ended up getting almost no coverage or discussion. Shill media isn’t praising them for the woke soapbox lectures. Youtubers aren’t giving them attention by complaining about the woke bullshit. Will Smith smacked Chris Rock and poof! Just like magic, all their sanctimonious grandstanding and prepared speeches didn’t even register a blip on the social media  radar.  Nobody even asked if Sean Penn melted his Oscar or not.   Completely irrelevant at their own ceremony.   I love it.

Nah it was a slap, if it was a proper punch i don’t think Chris would’ve just laughed it off

Also, I’d like to know why on Earth ‘No Way Home’ wasn’t nominated for ‘Best Picture’ when it practically saved their jobs and made more money than everything else nominated

        100% agree 🕷

        >People just learning Hollywood is on a broken moral compass.

If people stopped worshiping celebrities, this would be more blatantly obvious. We’re talking about drug addicts and sex offenders, after all.

A certain degree of respect to Chris Rock for standing his ground and laughing it off, though, in another scenario that could’ve easily turned ugly.

Honestly, it’s kind of sad to see Will Smith acting so cucked. I was 90s kid, so he was basically a childhood icon to me (I loved MIB). Didn’t his wife openly cheat on him? Any sort of self-respecting man would’ve walked away from the relationship after that. That slap was motivated by an extremely misguided sense of “defending his wife’s honor” but it just made him seem even more pathetic.

Ok, there is a time delay on ALL live TV…. It is between 15 seconds to 60 seconds… The reason is so they avoid fines and potential loss of broadcast license for things such as: (Wardrobe Malfunction, Sexually explicit Acts, The finger, Vulgar Language and ACTS OF VIOLENCE).

In other words and simply, THEY WANTED US TO SEE IT! The oscars and actors in general have been losing ratings and celebrity status. This was staged period, had they not wanted us to see it they would simply have inserted a commercial. It worked, people are talking about them and it giving them what they want ATTENTION.

So that is all you need to know. We saw it because they wanted us to see it…

Now lets go in more detail, What man would slap another for insulting his wife? None I know they would closed fist deck his ass. But if you freeze frame the slap it is clear Chris was leaning in for it and then when it came it was a push slap not meant to hurt just move, but the bigger tell was Will walking away smiling breaking character.

I find it telling and quite depressing that of all the bad crap going on, this is what dominates the “news”.  This is a reason why we are all in the trouble we are.  We (as a society) pay attention to the stupid stuff while the world burns.

It is all about the money honey.

              @FallenOmegaStar

Never have been a fan of Will Smith but as one who also grew up in the 90’s too, there was no escaping the fact that Will was everywhere in the 90’s. I too am a ‘Men In Black’ fan although that was more of the animated series than the films and I try and pretend that the last two- especially ‘International’- that film looked HORRIBLE on the trailer!- don’t exist. I frequently put on ‘Wild Wild West’ on ‘Just Dance 4’ on the Wii and I also loved the MIB title song as a kid. It’s sad that Will did what he did but I’ve little to no sympathy for him.

, 100% agree, honestly looking at all the pieces, his and his wife’s reaction to the joke, and the fact that she openly cheated on him, it makes me think that his wife could be a narcissist, i say this having seen in person what a narcissistic relationship can do to a person, i can understand how most people would see his reaction as pathetic, but misguided, like you said, is way more appropriate, watching that scene made me think that in Will’s eyes his wife can do no wrong and he has to protect her at all cost

Ok, there is a time delay on ALL live TV…. It is between 15 seconds to 60 seconds … In other words and simply, THEY WANTED US TO SEE IT! … This was staged period

Ok, having been on the set of a live TV show before i can definitely say that:

                1) The time delay is 5 seconds, it’s literally just enough time to beep out a bad word or cut to a different camera angle so that a costume fail doesn’t turn into tits galore

                2) OF COURSE THEY WANTED US TO SEE IT! And i’ll explain exactly how this was staged: First thing you need to know is that behined any live television, and even non-live reality TV, there is a team of produces, directors, writers, and most importantly psychologist, running the show, these people have 2 jobs that go hand in hand, come up with a basic story board, the tone of the show, do they want it to send a message, ecc, and to make this story board run as smoothly as possible they need to know every guests personality inside out, and i can guaran-fucking-tee you that 99% of the time if they want a reaction they’ll get that reaction, it was staged, but it was staged by the behind the scenes staff, Will, Jada, and Chris were in the dark and just reacting the way the staff expected them too, maybe Chris knew a little more than Will and Jada, but i’m pretty sure he was no where near 100% aware of the plan

@Digicat…. I have 3 different friends in Broadcast media one a News Anchor and asked all of them about this… All came back with the same answer 30 Seconds minimum and depending on the event up to 60 seconds and police pursuits they might even push it out further if the suspect is armed…. Many people keep saying 5 to 7 seconds so I asked people who are doing it right now for a living. 30 second minimum.

@Mustangride1, i’ve never worked in news media, but i can belive that the delay would be longer, especially in situations where someone is armed so as to not have graphic content on live TV, but in live entertainment it isn’t really necessary to have such a long delay, i calculatede it myself backstage during a show while watching the live broadcast at the same time, the sound from the TV came about 5 seconds after the sound from the studion

Will Smith banned from the Oscars for 10 years over Chris Rock slap

‘I accept and respect the Academy’s decision,’ Smith said in a statement

                    And what was that decision?

The motion picture academy on Friday banned Will Smith from attending the Oscars or any other academy event for 10 years following his slap of Chris Rock at the Academy Awards.

                    In-Person and virtually.

The academy’s statement did not address whether Smith could be nominated for Oscars during his 10-year ban. Nor did it take any action to revoke Smith’s Academy Award.

The academy has not revoked Oscars from expelled members Harvey Weinstein or Roman Polanski.

So he will keep his Oscar, and can be nominated for future awards.  Now if the academy members vote to accept the nomination to where he is one of the finalists, yet alone winning…. he will not be allowed to accept it in-person/virtually, but he can still WIN.
