I heard this is a trending argument among the toy hunter community right now.
The thing is, there is demand for certain figures. And the manufacturers are not providing the supply. It creates nothing but issues. Scalping goes up, people get frustrated, supplier loses money, etc.

I am of the opinion all of these figures should be made to order. It’s absolutely fucking stupid that a figure is rare and hard to find. That you have to be at the store at the right time to grab them.

      Any thoughts?

      Here is mine…

Take MOTU for example. Let the collectors buy what they want online, in total. Put product on the pegs so parents can get them for their kids. It’s simple. It just seems asinine to me that Hasbro, Mattel, etc cannot deliver product to their customers. If it’s not listed as 1 0f 1000 or something, just make them to order. Everyone wins. I don’t care if it takes 6 months to deliver. There is peace in knowing I can order what I want and it will arrive eventually. This applies to Target and Wal-Mart especially. It seems the problems follow them specifically. Thank god for BigBadToystore.

I’ve been trying to nab the MOTU Rise of Evil 2 pack and I never find it. It’s getting annoying. I managed to score Panthor on accident. For most of MOTU, it’s not a big deal. But the exclusives are frustrating as all hell. Power Con exclusives become available to the general public this Saturday. I fully expect to be disappointed when I go to order what I want.

Because I have news for you… Anything from these new lines are not gonna have the same value as the original lines. That just does not happen. Not in mass, anyway. Not in the long run. Power of the Force taught me that.

The same thing happened with Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

The price of Cara Dunn items jumped when stores and manufacturers were being (dark) forced to remove all Cara Dunn items, even those that were pre-purchased, because Disney/Lucasfilm/KK are morons.

@Legatus_Legionis to be fair, that’s what the assumed reason was. Evidence for it is pretty good considering items were pulled from stores. Who knows.

All legal reasons aside, not being able to provide your customer with product is a bad thing. Mattel and Hasbro are big enough where that shouldn’t even be a thing. Lego figured it out.

I have HAD it with this bullshit! See my rant over here: Random Thread VII

This complete and utter breakdown of product vs demand is not just limited to Mattel… But it is across the damn board!

HOW FUCKING HARD IS IT TO SIMPLY TAKE AND DELIVER A GODDAMN ORDER! Everyone who wants a product should be able to simply purchase it. No hoops. No fucking exclusives. No goddamn conventions. Just “Order Here, it will be ready X date”.

Simple goddamn concept! The rarity and the after market will handle the rest AFTER THE FACT. There is no need to create it at the fucking front end you absolute mindless fucking twats! This never ending cascade of stupidity just gets worse every day!

I am sorry. I just have short patience for stupidity in this world, mine or others. Makes no difference. Sometimes I just have to get it out or I’ll explode.

There is a 3rd party version of Arcee from the 86 transformers film that I put money on in October. The day I placed the order the site said in stock; 24 hours later when the CC cleared it said out of stock and has read ??????? for the next delivery date ever since. Also the site refuses to respond to emails so Im basically out $150 + tax in a timeframe when Im between jobs and eating the cheapest shit I can find to sustain my self till the 1st paycheck drops from the job that doesnt start till the 2nd.

That is starting to piss me off to no end.

lol, when I read the first paragraph, I was like ( Shortage in hunting community? Ammo? Gear?) If there is its because they are numbnuts and didnt stock up for the last 12 years…..

Then I read on and said to myself, Nothing new this has been going on forever, My Grandpa told me about how hard it was to buy stuff for my Dad and Uncles when I was struggling to buy my boys a present. But right now with everything that has been going on with China, it is hitting everything, from toy to electrical conductors, Fishing lures to Ammo reloading components. Soon it will affect clothing and people will be wearing less…. Less is not always more <shivers>

All the more reason nations need to be more self-reliant.

Having to rely on one nation for everything is a receipt for disaster (as we are seeing now, with covid, lockdowns, blockage of the suez canal, chip shortages, etc).

We are seeing the weakness of globalization happening.

We had a chance to “fix” that supply problem. But people are stupid (hence my never ending anger) and “voted” to perpetuate the status quo. We will now never fix THAT fucking problem.

I am conflicted now: I have decided to not buy any more Mattel product. I have several items already pre-ordered. I am wavering on cancelling them outright. Seriously, Mattel has seriously pissed me right the hell off. Right now I have Scareglow, Faker, Evil Lyn 2.0, Ram-Man, Orko, Tri-Klops, Stratos and Hordak as well as Greyskull ordered. After that, I pretty much met my want list in total. But I wanted to collect more. But this lack of customer appreciation and full fillment is frustrating. I really don’t know what to do. The longer I wait, the more I will calm down. But I give up looking for Rise of Evil and I won’t bother with inflated scalpers at all. Fuck em.

Well now this is interesting. It doesn’t quell my anger. But it is interesting.

                  Analyzing today’s Power-Con Non-Attendee pre-sale

Just another case of people not respecting the demand. If you can’t meet the demand, do the world a huge favor and don’t CREATE the demand in the first place.

They don’t let you edit old posts. So I have to keep spamming lol

Not that it matters but there’s a small batch of supply, for my part, released for other collectors. Go get em.

Anyone wanna buy my MOTU collection?
