Most of the games I’ve played this year weren’t released this year so here’s my top 10 discoveries of this year, so far.
Any opinions, shit talk or your list are welcome.

      10. Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online-There’s some jank but, as a long time fan of the Neptunia series, I really enjoyed it.
      9. The Dwarves- Don’t really know how to describe this. A choose your adventure meets board game meets single player diablo. I’ll go with that. haha
      8. Tales From the Borderlands- Never played any other Borderlands title but I did enjoy the story and stupid characters in this game.
      7. Shadow Legend VR- It’s a pretty linear game but the moment to moment gameplay feels like Skyrim VR should have felt. Must have for VR players.
      6. Marvel’s Spider-Man-Turning Mary Jane into discount Lois Lane is lame. Silver Sable sucks. Otherwise, really fun casualized Arkham rip off.
      5. Rabi-Ribi- If you can overlook the goofy anime asthetic, you have a kick ass metroidvania meets bullet hell game.
      4. Final Fantasy VII Remake- Havent finished it yet but am loving what I have. Could go up on my list by the time I’m finished.
      3. Terminator: Resistance- Great AA game that is to Terminator what the 2009 Ghostbusters game is to that series. Plays like a more linear Fallout. It’s great.
      2. Ion Fury- Really kick ass boomer shooter. If you like classic Duke Nukem, you’ll probably like this.
      1. Cosmic Star Heroine- Throwback to SNES era JRPGs without all the tedious grinding. Great game.

      Most Disappointing
Resident Evil 3- After how brilliant and fun RE2 Remake was, the complete half assed feeling of RE3 Remake was lame. Wasn’t a fan of changing Jill to look like Alice from the movies, either. It’s clear this was just a low effort remake that exist just so people could be tricked into buying RE: Resistance and, hopefully, get sucked the monetization loop.

As for the Dwarves. I read the books that was based on before I found the game. It was super clunky and the attack radius of the weapons was terrible. Add in the terrible rendition of the story and I deleted it pretty quick.

FF7r is great. Especially once you finish it and get into the choose what level you want to go to stage. Hard mode is actually hard before you find the right combinations to regain mana, or reduce spell costs.

I didn’t know it was a book. haha. I just liked the idea of a game that’s just dwarves.
Being bad at a game’s mechanics doesn’t mean they are clunky.
Every time I fail it is my fault for misreading a situation, having poor target prioritization or using the wrong strategy.
