Disney is launching a new service at Walt Disney World called the Disney Genie. It’s supposed to help you more effectively plan your Disney vacation by giving you ideas that fit your interests.
However there’s also Genie+, which includes Lightning Lanes, which is just paid FastPass for $15 per guest. This means that free FastPass is gone. Now FastPass was a broken system, since it actually increased the wait times in the regular lines and also increased crowd levels within the parks. But making it an upcharge is just another example of how Disney is sucking the fun out of their theme park experience.
Ending Magical Express, rising costs, rising crowds, no non-IP based rides for more than a decade, the injection of identity politics, and so much more are making Walt Disney World a hollow shell of what it used to be.
