I was first exposed to Star Wars when the Special Edition came out on VHS in 1997 (both parents were casual fans), but I admit I was little too young back then to understand everything that was going on.

Couple years later I saw Episode I in theaters and that somehow hooked me. I watched the film over and over whenever I could and sucked up all the material surrounding it (including the Episode I Scrapbook, if anyone can remember that). It was just so different from the classic films and I guess I wanted to know why. It was years later I discovered Jedi Knight II shortly after its release and from there I dived deep into the Expanded Universe.

I admit to being a huge nerd for Star Wars throughout the 2000’s. When the early 2010’s came around my passion for the franchise cooled quite a bit, probably due to a lack of any real Star Wars games and other controversies going on around that time. By the time the The Force Awakens came out, I had a very lukewarm interest at best. Needless to say The Last Jedi almost killed any enthusiasm I had for this franchise, but I might still give the Mandalorian a shot.

    1977

Though I really didn’t get to see the original Star Wars until ’81.   When I went with my parents  to see it at the drive-in back in ’77 it was the 2nd film of a double feature with The Lifeguard https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074798/ ,  Of course the first movie didn’t start until almost 8pm because you had to wait until it was dark enough to project a movie on a screen, and being a little kid that usually went to bed at 8pm, I ended up falling asleep during the boring Lifeguard movie and missing STAR WARS!   I’m still a little bitter about it to this day.

But I did have a ton of the action figures, the paperback novelization, the hand crank toybox movie viewer.    I did get to see Empire and Jedi on opening days.

My dad took me to the cinema to watch the whole OT in the late 90’s. I think it was one of the first digital remasterizations.

    Hooked up ever since.

For me…it started when I was around maybe 4 or 5 years old and we had the Laser Disc (those heavy hulking thick discs, which are even wider than the old disc for those turn tables) for Episode 4.  I actually borrowed episodes 5 and 6 on Laser Disc back then. In short…it was early 90s for me (I was born in 1988)

2008 when I first watched clone wars.

I’ve been a fan since I have memory. I remember growing up watching 2003 Clone Wars, as well as 2008. I also watched the OT and the Prequels around this time.

I wouldn’t consider myself a fan, I watched Revenge of the Sith in 2006 or something, and I always thought Star Wars is really overhyped and overrated. Last Winter I watched every single movie from 1-9 + Solo and Rogue One.

I like the franchise but I still think it’s a bit overrated.

In 1976 when Star Wars first came out.  I was sold.  My first real pieces of artwork were drawings of R2D2, AT AT Walkers, ect.  I put together models of R2D2, C3PO, and X-Wing Fighters.  I still have the original action figures from 1976 (well played with), comic books, ect.  I was 13 years of age.  No amount of cgi and technical updates can beat the original three movies.  They had integrity and a good story.

I become a Star Wars fan in my teen years when I watched the Prequels. Say what you will about the Prequels but at least they had soul unlike the Disney Sequel Trilogy which are so bad that there is a chance that they hopefully get erased.

The Prequels told a story while the Disney Sequel trilogy were just a vehicle for woke social justice and the ramblings of a mad woman who deserves to be put into a mental home or the Sarlacc Pit….or both….I’m talking about you Evil Aunt Kathy.

in 1977 with Star Wars when it was a singular Movie  before it morphed into A new Hope

I was 6 years old when A New Hope came out.  I remember after we left the theater on the ride home all I could think about was the movie we just saw and how great it was.

Huh. I totally missed this thread when it sprouted. Go figure.

1983 RotJ premier. My Dad stood in line through out the early morning to get tickets, because he wanted me to see it on the screen. My mom tells the story of how we brought him bagels as the morning went on. It ended up being an Empire RotJ double feature.

I can still see the marquee today clear as day when I think about it.

When it was over, my parents took me to FAO Shorts and got me toys so I could keep the movie alive at home, including the giant Darth Vader action figure case that I never really used as intended.

    The rest is history.

The Vader head cases were the best.

Star Wars is my favourite franchise but I don’t consider the Sequels, Solo and the High Republic as part of my personal canon.

I became a fan from Star Wars in May of 1999 after the release of The Phantom Menace.

First I watched The Phantom Menace on theaters, then I watched it a lot of times in VHS.

I also watched several times the special edition of the Original Trilogy in VHS before the release on theaters of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
