I don’t think i have to repeat that i’m a Digimon mega-fan… and i just repeated it 😁 Anyway, when i first heard that Digimon Adventure was getting a reboot, i was very, very skeptical, actually, that’s an understatement, i was in total panic mode 🙀

Having become accustomed to the age of SJW turning everything it touches to shit (cough cough… Last Jedi), what? Just ’cause i think porgs are cute doesn’t mean i think that’s a good movie 😡 The first big fear was that of the SJW infection of making the girls crap all over the guys 💩 Now, i know anime’s for the most part an SJW free zone, so, hanging on to that, i hoped for the best, and moved on to my second fear, it might simply just suck and have none of the spark that made the original series so special 🙀🙀

This second fear stems from the reboot of another childhood defining cartoon with characters that literally grew up along side me, Ben 10. I remember the first (and last) time watching the reboot Ben 10, and i wanted to smash the TV, it was raining f-bombs, it had nothing of the show that i grew up with, that i’d run to the TV after school ready to be an alien for the next 40 minutes, the adventure, the emotion, the wit, it was all gone 😭

Months pass, i’ve cried my eyes out watching Last Evolution, and i’m still looking at the reboot like a cat, carefully weighing the pros and cons of letting a new cat in it’s territory 😾 But slowly, the rational part of my brain starts to take over, wait, i have a rational part of my brain 🧠? Huh, i was just surprised to know i had a brain, but ok 😁 And i start thinking, in those months i watched all of Fullmetal Alchemist, and technicly, FMA Brotherhood is a reboot of FMA03, and it’s f***ing great 🤩 Now the hype for the Digimon reboot really starts to kick in

Moment of truth, how is the Digimon Adventure reboot? 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Long story short, i feel like i’m a kid again, just that instead of running to a box TV after school and protecting the remote with my life, i’m running to my tablet at 4am diligently keeping it fully charged and un-smashed 😸 That’s a reboot done well, one that’s able to keep what made the characters, the world special, while creating new stories and adventures

To recap: I watched Last Evolution, which literally said in the trailer “the Digi-destined are becoming grown ups”, with the realization hitting me that i too am becoming a grown up, and then they hit the reboot button, create a series so f***ing fantastic that watching it hits the reboot button on my childhood, and is also filled with eastereggs that have me screaming “Holy shit! We’re getting a crossover!!” at every episode, while jumping up and down like a freaking duracell bunny 🐰 Ah well, i wasn’t ready to grow up anyway 😹

Yes. This 2020 reboot has been very well done and enjoyable.

I didn’t watch Last Evolution, because Tri left a bad taste in my mouth, so I was kinda ready to not care about the franchise anymore. Having also been on the Digimon train since back in the day, I needed something to watch a few weeks ago, so I blew through the first season of the reboot, and I was quite pleased by this retelling. Shows the current era of story telling focusing more on moving a story along without filler fluff and better character development. As of right now I’m perfectly happy to let this one take over from the original version, especially if they keep it clean and not convoluted like the original series eventually got between 1, 2, and Tri.

I wouldn’t say Last Evolution is the best Digimon movie of all time, but it was a very emotional ending to an incredible, if a little chaotic at times, adventure, imo

Honestly, i prefer the character development in the original series, though the reboot is doing an amazing job, with the first few episode i had the same problem as with the beginning of FMA Brotherhood, it felt too rushed, but as the pace of the series settled down and the story started to unfold in full force i was blown away more and more each episode

I’m also a big Digimon Frontier fan, and the Frontier eastereggs that’ve shown up thruout the series are pure gold 🤩
